• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Front sprocket issue

Just an FYI for all owners... we own a 2009 Spyder and love it, but recently my wife was riding and the front sprocket came off the drive shaft and rolled down the road. It caused roughly $3,700 in damages. The technician indicated that the sprocket and bolt holding it to the drive shaft are not things that are ever checked for preventative maintenance. They are installed at the factory and never touched again, so it seems obvious that the failure is either a part failure or due to improper installation. Knowing the bike is out of warranty I contacted BRP to see if they would consider covering at least part of the repairs and they refused.

Your tech is sadly mistaken. There was a service bulletin addressing the belt tension and the sprocket on the early GS. The belt tension was lowered (twice) to 450 N +/- 150 to prevent sprocket and shaft damage. The sprocket bolt was to be backed off and retorqued at 6,000 miles, then the bolt marked with an "X". Failure to do these things could result in sprocket/shaft damage. A good tech checks belt tension and tracking at the specified intervals (oil changes) and looks things over carefully. This problem can usually be headed off before major damage occurs, if the tech does his job thoroughly and carefully. There is more to a service interval than a mere oil change.

Mine didn't come off but it did ruin the shaft, [two years ago Gs08] And yes the belt and the bolt were checked/adjusted a few times by the dealer and by me. Didn't cost me quite that much [1800 dollars]
But once they had to split the engine i figured it was time to move on.
Mine was also out of warranty by about a month or two, Brp also refused.//....
