• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Front Plate

I think I said.......

"I knew two wheelers were not required to have a plate. None of the six that I have owned had to be front plated."

......but maybe not. I'm getting sort of senile with my advancing age.

Even I understood what you said about your Wing only having the one plate. Welcome to the forum and welcome to three wheels.

I bought my 2010 Spyder RT from a dealership in Waco. I think it was called Waco Motorsports.
I got a great deal as I paid cash and my RT doesn't have a radio (it was the ultra stripped model
in 2010 I guess). It was all I could afford but I am really liking it. The next week after I bought
the thing the biker groups were shooting up Waco so I guess I am lucky I wasn't around for
those festivities. The dealer in Boerne also had a pair of 2011 RTs but they wanted over $3K
more... Anyhow, jump in on some of these threads as you get to making your Spyder yours.

When you register the spyder, if they give you one plate... And if they give you two...

I'm in Georgia, and the prisoners only work half days because all we have is one plate for any motorized vehicle.

FRONT PLATE

My GF, Dee just posted pics of my ( legally issued ) front plate see thread "Pics of todays ride in New York ".........Mike

front plate

Did a search for this answer on the forum and could not find it....probably is here but I had no luck. Question is...I see all these photos of Spyders, but seldom see a front plate. I live in Texas and found this...

This is from the TX DPS website. Sounds like it is still a violation to me.

§ 502.404. OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITHOUT LICENSE PLATE OR
REGISTRATION INSIGNIA. (a) A person commits an offense if the
person operates on a public highway during a registration period a
passenger car or commercial motor vehicle that does not display two
license plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle, that have
been:
(1) assigned by the department for the period; or
(2) validated by a registration insignia issued by the
department that establishes that the vehicle is registered for the
period.
(b) A person commits an offense if the person operates on a
public highway during a registration period a passenger car or
commercial motor vehicle, other than a vehicle assigned license
plates for the registration period, that does not properly display
the registration insignia issued by the department that establishes
that the license plates have been validated for the period.
(c) A person commits an offense if the person operates on a
public highway during a registration period a road tractor,
motorcycle, trailer, or semitrailer that does not display a license
plate, attached to the rear of the vehicle, that has been:
(1) assigned by the department for the period; or
(2) validated by a registration insignia issued by the
department that establishes that the vehicle is registered for the
period.
(d) Subsections (a) and (b) do not apply to a dealer
operating a vehicle as provided by law.
(e) An offense under this section is a misdemeanor
punishable by a fine not to exceed $200.

If you read the code it says motorcycle displayed on the rear was a policeman for 22 years motorcycle plates large only on the rear

In California the Spyder is NOT a Motorcycle, it does not require a motorcycle lic.
or a motorcycle endorsement, however because it does not have seat belts or a top or roll bar
it is required to use a helmet.
What ever you call it, ride safe
Dave

You are aware the Spyder is a motorcycle, aren't you?
