• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

front cargo light

The light was standard in the RTS, just not the basic RT. The plug you see at the back of the frunk is for the optional 12 volt power outlet, just like the one in the trunk.

The light is in the left front corner of the frunk. The arrow points to it in this pic. You can see it in the mirror.

Well I'll be danged. I didn't know it was there! I've never been into my frunk when the power was on. Anyway, it was mostly blocked by the frunk liner. All this time I thought that round plastic plug was where the light should've been. Learn something new every day.

Did you tie the power for your led light strip into the wiring that feeds the worthless frunk light that is factory ..?
Yes. I tapped into it under the tupperware back at the back left corner of the frunk. IIRC it's in a bundle with the wires that go to the horn. I accessed it either from below the left access panel or by pulling some pins out and pulling the tupperware with the fog light away from the frunk box.

Do you have a link to their website, and a part number for this strip?
It looks AWESOME!  :2thumbs:

This is the one they have available. SWFLS-CW30-WHT It is about 20" long. The one I used is 40" long but it's discontinued. You can connect two together or put one on each side and connect the wires together at the back of the frunk. It's self adhesive but you need to use 3M adhesive primer to make sure it'll stick to the liner trim. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/adhesives/3m-automotive-adhesion-promoter/3046/6648/

My LED Strip is a shorter strip and stuck it to the back of the liner. The LED's are bright,so they lite up the Frunk pretty well. I bought a roll of it from superbright LED as well.

Also used a plug from Value Accessories and plugged it into the factory plug and T off from that connector. So nothing was spliced into my factory harness.

Yup, one of many dumb engineering feats by BRP....ya gotta open the frunk with the key, then put the key back in and turn it on for the light to work...DUMB!!!! Why not just install a switch that's easily accessible and bypass the key altogether?

Could you explain this a little more? Are you talking about the powered accessory outlet in the frunk?

I wonder if it would work without the key turned on if you move the F6 fuse like we can do to have your rear trunk accessory power port on without needing to have the key turned on ..??

What do you mean, open the frunk then put the key back in? You push the key down and turn to unlock the frunk, then let it come back up, then turn it on! If it's already on, i.e. the bike is running, just push and turn to unlock. No need to shut the bike off!

The key doesn't operate a switch to open the frunk, or to turn on the light. It's a mechanical cable connection to open the lid. That's the system that BlueKnight911 & others have bypassed with an extra pull cable. As for the light, it is turned on by the microswitch. That same microswitch was used for the electric frunk opener. With the lid closed the switch provided a ground for the actuator. The power to it came from the ignition through the rocker switch that used to be a combination parking/frunk release switch. When the lid popped open the microswitch closed the other set of contacts providing the ground circuit for the frunk light which is also powered from the ignition.

So it really isn't, or at least wasn't, so dumb when you know how the whole system was designed in the first place. Even though the electric frunk opener hasn't been standard on the S and Limited Spyders for five years, you still can buy it as an optional add-on.

The frunk power outlet and the rear trunk power outlet are on the same circuit. So yes, it would be powered all the time if the fuse is moved.

Well, I'll be darned. I have never opened the frunk with the bike running or the key turned on. Just never had a reason to turn the key on while packing /unpacking the frunk. But today I checked and low and behold, I can see the light.....

It sounds like I need to figure out how to bring that power outlet into the frunk.
Look for a power outlet that you can simply push into the hole and have it lock into place, or one with the lock ring on the front side. If you get one that uses a lock ring on the backside you will have one h*** of a time getting it installed. You have to have the lock ring on the wires, pull the wires through the hole, plug them onto the outlet, put the outlet in the hole, reach around to the backside and screw on the lock ring, then use all kinds of language to lubricate the rubber boot that's on the harness to get it to slip over the end of the outlet to waterproof (?) the setup. Don't ask me how I know!!!! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

To make the process easier remove the battery compartment cover. To make it easier still, remove the battery. And, to make it still easier, get someone with small hands to do it!!!!

:agree: I just discovered that little sucker myself. The frunk liner obscures it.

I Installed a plug into the existing plug for the frunk light, that extra plug has two extra wires and spliced into those wires not the factory wires. That is what powers my LED light strip for the Frunk now along with that stock crappy one light.

Once you turn off the key switch the light will delay stay on as long as the frunk is open. But will turn off once the delay timer shutdown.
I think I'm going to try to figure out a brighter solution for that little guy. Maybe tie into that circuit for an LED strip. Still mulling it over, but wow what a revelation this thread has been!
