SpyderLovers Founder
We got in late Thursday to the hotel Delta and was greeted by SpyderLovers member groundeffect from Newfoundland. He's a new SpyderLover and is about as excited about the Spyder as you can get. He drove me nuts at first when he first joined the board with all the questions he had but now that he's an owner he has been a big help to other members. He's really a nice guy and I'm glad to have him as a member.
I got to give major props to effgjamis and docdoru. They drove non stop from Kissimmee, Florida and Clearwater, FL to Sherbrooke Quebec. These are the toughest Spyder riders I have ever met. You get the Energizer Bunny award.
This pic was the most Spyders Dean had ever seen in one place. He was about to be blown away.
Groundeffect (Dean) is the guy on the left. :doorag:
Our first stop was the BRP service and parts warehouse in Sherbrooke. This was just down the road from the Delta. We were greeted by Danny and he took us in and gave us the VIP tour. It was great. :doorag: We got to see Carlo there and see where he worked.
After the tour we headed back to the Delta and met up with Marc Lacroix and Martyne. They escorted us to the Plant in Valcourt. There was a lot of road construction and we got separated along the way so I hung back with Martyne because she knew where we were and where we were going. I hate riding in groups for just this reason but it all worked out.
When I first set this up there were only going to be four of us but as you can see the group got a little bigger than we had planned. Marc made adjustments for the bigger group. Thanks Marc, you Da Man :2thumbs: Groundeffect was flipping out at all the Spyders in the group.
We rode into town and you could see this was a BRP town. Most everyone there has something to do with BRP if not working at the plant they are servicing the workers. It's pretty cool to see. :doorag:
From there we went to the Armand Bombardier Museum This is really worth seeing if you've never been. The last time we were in Valcort I didn't get a chance to check it out. I'm sure glad I did this time. They had a cool video of how he got started. Who knew that the Spyder would be the a part of a visionary like J. Armand Bombardier. He was an amazing man.
You sat right behind that prop
On the way out from the museum we stopped by the BRP corporate building and the building where they are working on future products 8 to 10 years down the road. Man I would like to be a fly on the wall in that building.
From there some of us split off as we went to dinner. Marc could only reserve four seats for me and my other guest but as it turned out we were able to get a table for us all. This place is a hot spot and we were very lucky to get seated. When we left the place was packed so timing is everything. :doorag:
Chaz Rice and Dennis Sawyer (after-sales service) and Brenda Culligan (parts, accessories and clothing) joined us for dinner Friday night.
Dinner was great and we had a nice surprise at the end, BRP picked up the tab. Thank you :firstplace:
No I didn't get to try this but it did look pretty good. :doorag:
We had a great ride back and we stopped by Megog to see if anyone was there. I guess they were but we didn't know exactly where at the time.
We decided to head back to the Delta but then someone said something about donuts. I love donuts and my favorite is Dunkin Donuts. I was told that Tim Hortons was like Dunkin Donuts except better. I didn't see how that was possible but I was ready and willing to find out. I got to tell you the donuts were great but the coffee was the best I've ever had. I would go there just for the coffee. You got to check it out.
By the way I guess I live under a rock because I had never heard of Tim Hortons.
Here's the facts.
3,029 locations in Canada. 567 in Northern U.S.
100,000 employees
$2 Billion in Sales
Larger than McDonalds in Canada
Hanging out in the parking lot was great and I got to tell you that kicking tires in the parking lot is always the best part of events like this. You get the know the folks you ride with and build closer relationships. I even had a guy tell me he was a "troll" on my board. nojoke Seemed like a nice guy in the in person :dontknow:
