• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. BRP has fox shocks available in their 2012 catalouge. It comes standard on the 2012 RSS.

It says they can be installed on Rs and RSS models 2011 and up.

I have 2008 RS, does anyone know if they would work on an 2008?

And if not, what is differnt between the years?

Mainly it's small changes in the ecu for the level of sensitivity, not a huge diffrence they will bolt on and work fine, we've been installing Elka's on them with great results.......I'm a little parshel, but i'd go elka....plus you get a better deal on them for being a spyderlover member....and welcome I see it's your first post!

So, I Guess the question is Which shocks are better Elka of Fox?:dontknow:

Anyone have experiance with both to compare?

Can't comment on Elka's, but I run Fox shocks on my Sled and they are great. If fox shocks are great on a sled, I'm sure they would be awesome on a Spyder considering they will take alot less of a beating.

It would of been nice if Trooper would have gave a little insite why Elka's would be a better product, but I understand he does not want to force his product on anyone.

Just made of alot tougher material, longer lasting and a better product! Reaching out side of the box here, but will help shine some light on the Quality.....In the off road world guys are taking the fox shocks of commanders on the X models and upgrading to the Elkas at a price of all most 2500 a set to do so. Don't get me wrong whatever you go with will be a great upgrade over the stock and do a good job! Elka is better and will last longer. Fox is a good product, works are good, But Elka is the BEST!! and in the near future we will be unvailing the Our new off road buggys. We are getting ready for spyderfest and the king of the hammer's......And theres no way I'd be running any other supension in this race the world's toughest one day off road race. Ran Elka's before, and will be running them again this year on both our race buggys ultra4racing.com/tag/king-of-the-hammers-2012

Thanks for all the info! I see i will have to do some research on what if any options there are with

Well, my comment was more directed in terms of what kind of options you are getting for the price. Yes the Fox are cheaper, but they do not offer any damping control. The stage 1+ Elka's are a little more expensive but they have rebound control and plenty of preload adjustment.

I do not think it would be fair for me to talk about product quality, ( I feel like it's kinda like talking behind someone's back) but I am more than happy to explain to you fine folks how the Elka product works at the 2012 Spyderfest. I will be offering free suspension seminars at the event, and I will be there to fine tune everyone's suspension absolutely free of charge as well. Customer service has always been of the utmost importance to Elka, and there is no better way than to be there amongst you folks at Spyderfest.

Sorry Trooper, your text in bold is not correct.......

The new gas-charged, anodized-aluminum FOX Racing Shox front shocks on the Spyder RS-S models are adjustable for preload and have compression and rebound damping. The shocks, which provide a 33% weight reduction per shock on the stock Spyder RS shocks, wear carbon-blackcolored springs.

I'm not trying to start anything, just want the info provided to be accurate for people that might be interested in Fox shocks .

If that is the case, then I apologise. My information stems from this:

Suspension:

It mentions improved compression and rebound, but not adjustable. There is no mention of adjustable damping on the Can Am website either:
