Fox Rear Shock

Good luck..!!

let us know how it turns out. Fox makes a good shock so you should have great results...:2thumbs:

I almost went with the fox upgrade but I called them and they told me it came with the same weight spring as the OEM Sachs... I no experience with Elka but I ended up buying the stage two from them...

just curious, on the Fox, there does the resevour mount? I wanted that option from Elka but their mounting for the hyd preload and resevour sucked so I went with the stage 2 with manual adjusted preload and a custom dual rate spring. Bad part is the are running 3-4 weeks behind on orders

feedback will be welcomed

I'm thinking of upgrading the rear on my ST, not too keen on having no preload at all, especially when towing our little camper. Look forward to your "full and comprehensive" report ... I presume this is the Fox through BRP ? Thanks in advance.

I will install it and post pics later today. Yes this is the BRP shock and the res mounts to the frame tube just above the brake pedal. Having preloae adjustability is a very important part of shock setup and tuning. My factory shock fades and rides like crap after 20 miles or so. Stock rear shock is a joke.

The Fox rides nice. Adjustable spring preload and damping controls. Compared to our ST Ltd , the ride is firm but not harsh. Handles the rough roads very well - no pogo sticking over the mogouls. Plus it looks cool.

Just finished the install and went out for a short run, way plusher than the stocker and no harsh hits either. I left the settings as they came and will set it up for my weight later. Looks awesome also. Oh yeah, shock body is huge. 57mm or 2 1/4 inch.

Had the Elka mounted its reserve like that I would have gone with the stage 4. They designed a crappy looking mount that attaches under the passanger grab handles and attach with what looks like big hose clamps

Can't wait I shed the factory shock... According to fox the Stock and their shock both had a 360lb spring. Not nearly enough for the average guy, weight of the unit, accessories, and gear

Pretty easy to change a spring if need be. I just went for a rip with my son on the back (400lbs between us), rides awesome. Stock shock bottomed on everything, this one does not.

elka mounting parts looks realy crap

Thanks. Have a great day.
I always prefer elka but stage five and four shocks mounting parts realy looks crap especially the metal parts that hang on to the seat , may be its just for showing how it will bolt on. may be they will produce beter and specific design for the f3

Is that the unit that runs about $900?

Spring

Can you give some info on this spring you installed? Where did you get it, part number, price, etc? And how tough was it to install? I think upgrading the spring is the way to go as well.

Im just using the spring that cam with it, check with Fox for optional springs (I would think they will offer some). Removing the spring is easy, remove shock, back off pre-load adjuster till spring retainer is free, remove retainer, remove spring.

Fox Rear Schock

Do I need to remove the belt to remove and install a new Fox rear Shock? I ask because I had my laser alignment done and the belt is aligned correctly. I do not want the dealer to remove the belt and I start having belt vibration issues again.

Thanks.
