• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

+My forward right fender support (pn 705002400) snapped clean through on the way home yesterday afternoon. Anybody else?

I'm going to request BEST warranty coverage.

Had the same thing happen in June, only was on left side. Dealer replaced under warranty. Standard 2 year, not BEST.

Hey Roadkill,
Knowing how many you put miles on cycles...you must be close to a million miles on your Spyder by now!

I'm hoping that is the minimum "wear out" point for that part!

Front fender support

The front right fender supports broke on my 08 GS with about 25,000 miles on Needles highway near Sturgis. Cracked right at the transition from bracket to round tube. Had a welder fix it with a steel pin placed in the tube and welded. $25 fix.

+Same transition point. I think I'll do a weld, since it's less of a headache for all involved.

+A friend welded the fender support in "good enough" fashion for me for $20.

I Rusto-painted it and remounted it this morning, and gave it a 75-mile workout this afternoon.

I had the same thing happen to me also. I had the fender supports fixed two times. The problem is they are hollow on the inside and all of the vibration and bumpy roads just tears them apart. I found a shop to make me some duplicate fender supports that a fully aluminum, no problems since.:yes:

I now have 40,000 on the Spyder so the welded support has held together. The right wheel hub was warped so that was replaced and no vibrations now. I thought the disc was warped but when they checked it they found the hub was the problem. :doorag:

and what were the results? any more vibration than before? and how about an image?

+The results are fine. I asked him to insert a rod into the hollow before welding it. Vibes are the same, and have never been a problem. Crummy roads are the problem. I didn't take any pics because it looks the same.
