• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Forward Controls for my 08" GS SM5

Greetings to you all.
As a new rider on a Spyder GS. Just 3 weeks ago. A Black/Gray 08' Titled as a GS, SM5.
I like it very much so far, but am having some trouble shifting.
Im retired, 65 years young. and my knees are not quite as flexible as they used to be.
OK after riding a few miles I have a hard time lifting my toe to upshift.
I know I just getting used to how it all works but Im thinking it would be more comfortable for me if I had forward controls for the shifter and brake.
Ive done some searching for that and Google has not found anything I can use.
? has anyone out there put forward controls on a 08' Spyder GS and where did you find them.
Thanks very much for any advise.
TeddyBear aka John

:welcome: and :congrats: The 08 GS SM5 in half moon silver was also my first :ani29:

Can't help you with the question though. You might search the archives for heel/toe shifter. I thought someone posted about that back a few years ago.

Well....

:agree: floor boards with heel toe shifter and the only other would be to find someone to custom build some...I guess buying an F3 is a bit to expensive...:roflblack::roflblack:

One of the sponsors here, ISCI, makes the hand break for the GS. You can find them on the homepage here. Check them out.

Same problem

I had the same problem. I have a 2009 GS SM5 and my knees would be hurting pretty bad at the end of my ride. What I did was, I got the Rivco floorboard with the heel/toe shifter, it worked great. It brings your legs down and more forward, my knees don't hurt anymore and makes for a much more enjoyable ride.

A floorboard & heel toe shifter is comfy way to go on most any bike but can take some training to not over shift,:lecturef_smilie:fyi problems I had on my roadstar 1700. It would shift fine but sometimes I went too far & skipped a gear, all too easily. I found technique of my big foot could fit feel the tow & still reach the heal edge so I only used 1/2 the effort to shift :p

ISCI has them

Go to the home page here and find ISCI a sponsor of the site
They have the foot brake extender and larger pedal also the
shifter, for that one.... I have the same... you may want to look into
floor boards and handlebar risers so you are not bent over riding.
Well worth the time and money
Dave
