• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Forum Negativity

I have always heard, and believe it is probably true that Spyderlovers group represents a small percentage of the actual owners of Spyders.

There are certainly a full ix of talent, age, experience and opinion from this group. Often the information can be quite helpful, while other times the information is quite wrong.

Negativity, when something fails, we get upset.

Happy thoughts, some people have the money or time and load their machine with options, while others prefer out of the crate stock. It does not really matter what make the machine yours, as long as there is an enjoyment factor.

Failures on the part of BRP are huge reason we see negativity here. Not that the machine as a whole is bad or just some portion on some machines lets the rider down and sometimes it is at a very inopportune moment. BRP sells a very expensive machine, most of us agree the customer service from BRP creates a lot of negativity. How BRP handles customer service is on them.

The closer BRP can come to building a perfect machine, or even better still, having a proactive customer service policy that is adhered to will be the turning point of taking negativity and turning it in to positives. Often positives results in prolonged customer loyalty.

As for negativity here, not really a big deal for me, you and I have had differences before, regardless I still respect your knowledge and experience even if we don't agree.

True negativity on Spyderlovers for me is the folks on my ignore list. For various reasons, it just reduced the negativity when I am here so the ignore list is a one of the positive features.

Outside of that, if I can share knowledge and help others that is good, if I learn or they help me, that is good also. If I make friends via this place even better.

Life is short, do all you can to keep a positive experience.

I want another motorcycle, and the wife is asking which one I plan to get rid of. I do not like her negativity on the subject...

As well thought out and reasoned as that was it isn't what I was talking about.
I'm not suggesting for a moment that Happy Talk be the order of the day.

I am not speaking of one issue, one thread or one post.

It's just this.
Irrespective of the issue, I can predict the response.
That doesn't mean I am clairvoyant, smart or gifted.
Almost anyone can do the same.

Don't tell me we've decided to be negative about being negative!

I thought we were supposed to be happy about NOT being negative!

It's like just before every election when people tell you 'It can't get any worse'!

I suppose it all comes down to the eye of the beholder.

Many BRP problems start and end with their dealers

If you've been on this site for a while you've read the stories. Some of the most outrages statements have been told to customers that would even make the pope cuss at BRP. Other stories have told us of outstanding dealership efforts to resolve customer issues and save folk's vacations that would otherwise have turned into a memorable disaster. So, it's my impression that dealerships is where it starts and ends.

so we have a negative about being negative.

So do I understand this right, we can vent about people who are negative but not vent about negative service departments or BRP customer service.
I think we need to vent about negative service dept. Maybe BRP will pull their franchise or make them get certified mechanics.

No one has to do anything.
Write, vent, communicate anything you like or feel.
I was not trying to say anything different.

My point was this.
The over all tone, as perceived my me, and it is only an opinion, has turned into a fairly negaitive place of late.

Probably BRP has something to do with it, poor dealer response has something to do with and, this is the one that the post #1 was about, some people like to complain pretty much not because they have a dog in the fight but because they like to complain.

I think if you read through some threads you will see the same people posting about how bad things are irrespective of the topic.

So, if my original intent was misunderstood I am sorry.

I think you are right on Roger. There are some days when I come on SL I am feeling a lot of doom and gloom from a lot of the posts I read. I am also guilty of a negative post once in awhile--but try to keep most of my posting on the upbeat side.

Relax Not questioning you are anything you said. Just voicing my thoughts, is that not why someone posts to get other peoples experiences or thoughts on a topic.

I love my Spyder. Sure, I've had problems. When I have, BRP has always stepped up to the plate and fixed them.

Some folks demand perfection in everything they buy, and are, therefore, doomed to be disappointed in life. :gaah:

I'm not perfect, so I don't expect anyone else to be. nojoke

Each and every day, we have the choice to be miserable or to be happy :lecturef_smilie: - I try my best to choose happy. :ohyea:

Trying to be happy is not always easy but my Spyder sure gets the job done! Understand anger at something going wrong but hopefully the anger goes away with the fix and smiles come back out:ohyea:
