• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

??? For those who have added the Elka Shocks and Custom Seats

+1 for the Lamonster cut - a $35 beadrider works wonders to keep cool & dry.

You need to find other Spyders with various seats - few will like the same seat. Personally, I've had Russell, Mustang, Corbin, and most of the others - as well as a ton to stock seats (incl a group from the HD wish book, and I always end up with a Corbin. It just works for me.

Have Corbin and Elkas. Had seat first then shocks but if I had to I'd go for the Elkas first. As you mention being uncomfortable with the wind and speed it would seem the shocks would ba a first choice.

I love my Elka's but I hated the stock seat so for me it would be the seat. I realize how much I hated it everytime I ride a RT with the stock seat. Both are worth the investment. :doorag:

Ok with this new info I'd say go for the Elkas and a sway bar now and get a nice sheepskin. Now you can start saving up for a Russell Daylong saddle!:thumbup: I have both on my RS and they are a wonderful combination. I've done 250 miles without a stop with no problems. :ohyea:

Any idea where I can actually buy a sway bar in the US? I havent been able to find one.

Hmmm may have to look into those. Any specifics around what you bought from them?

I have several post here regarding my Works shocks. I've had them on a number of my ORVs and they have always been top notch, and well priced.

I bought them about a year ago, and as I recall, given the same specs, the Works were about 60% of the Elka's price, and were built specifically for me, and the way I ride. This was not an off the shelf solution. I've never felt I needed a sway bar with the Works installed - and yes, I did have the sway bar on my old RS, along with RT shocks. In that case, the bar made a difference. I suspect that if you purchase "off-the-shelf" shocks, you may still need a sway bar. JMHO

Which Elkas are appropriate for an older more sedate rider on a RTS

I'd say the Stage 1+R or the new Stage 1. The 1+R has the damping adjustment, the Stage 1 has only the pre-load adjustment and the damping is set at the most common levels.

I have the 1+R on my 2010 and I do like them a lot.

Give Len (pitbull) or John (trooper) a pm and they will contact you with details! ;)
