• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For the life of me, I cant figure out how to remove a bolt

So on my F3-T, I am wanting to remove two bolts. Basically, it is the bottom back panel of the bike that I need gone. All it does is spin. Both of them. Neither loosen up at all. Is there a trick to doing this?

I attached a pic of the bolt.

It's not going into one of those captured nuts is it? Where you have to get up behind with a set of plyers and hold the nut and turn the bolt! Some of those are a PITA!!! Drilling the head off if that don't work would be my only idea but then you still have to hold it from the back side still so it don't spin and burn a hole in your panel! Good luck!!!

No problem. Take a small Phillips head and a very small flat tip. Put the Phillips head in, and look closely - you’ll see it spin. Where it spins is where you put the flat tip, and lever it while you spin. Once you get the tiny gap, it comes out. The plastic screw part is fragile. Once the screw is out, pry the rest of it out - it is a pushpin! Go to a hardware store, replace that plastic Phillips head screw with a stainless steel screw. Problem solved forever!! Call me if you need help. Number below. Joe

Its not a bolt, its a pushpin - i.e. a plastic rivet. There are a number of these on the Spyder. Not sure why these have a Phillips head, when others do not. Maybe its supposed to be turned 90 degrees after insertion.

Most push pins have a center peace that pulls out from the outer piece. I just use a small flat blade screwdriver to remove mine.

Is there a way to remove them without damaging them? Or is it easier to just get them out and use new ones when putting everything back together?

No need to worry about damaging them. You can get a box full of assorted sizes for less than $5. Throw the dang things away and put a new in. The kits for removing the door panels and dash from cars and trucks has a little tool made for removing them. Small common screwdriver works about as well.

Those have black plastic screws in them which are pretty much a one use affair. I have replaced all my screws of that type with screws from Auto Zone. I have also made the removal of the actual "mudguard" easy to do by clipping all the pins on it with dykes and using the same screws to mount it. The mudguard is now easy to R&R for looks and single strap tie downs. Complete details can be found here: "click: to see MY SPYDER PAGE then click on trailertit.jpg

If you want to buy push pin pliers, which I strongly endorse, and go to Harbor Freight for them be certain to examine the flat jaws of the pliers to be certain they are parallel and smoothly ground and beveled. When I went to buy them, all seven pair in my local HF store weren't worth crap, very poorly finished. I spent a little more and bought a pair of Lisle brand.

Oh crap,:roflblack: I took a closer look and, wth it is a push pin!! No spinning nut!!!!:cheers: take a pick and pop the center out!!!
