• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Fitting Yoshimura R-77 Slip-On Exhaust Muffler to a Spyder RT

I have a 2010 Spyder RT-S SE5 Model

I would like to change the Stock muffler with a New Yoshimura R-77 Stainless Steel Slip on one

See link :-

http://www.yoshimura-rd.com/ps-4721-1946-r-77-stainlessstainless-slip-on-epa-noise-compliant.aspx-

I have the Following questions

Has anyone done this yet and if so any Observations

Would I need to get the Spyder re-mapped or because it just a muffler replacement - I don't need to do anything further

Looking at the instructions on their website it states the following :

-REMOVAL

1. Remove the (2) stock tailpipe bolts at flange.
2. While securely supporting the muffler, remove the muffler mount bolt and carefully remove stock
muffler assembly.
3. Remove stock exhaust gasket as it will not be used with the Yoshimura system.

Anyone know how this would seal against the existing fittings - Concerned ref Exhaust gasses escaping from the joint

Also see ful Fitting Instructions - View attachment Yoshimura Spyder RT Exhaust 2010.pdf

Any information would be helpful

Thanks

I have one in my garage, and am installing it with the cat bypass - I'll post the project, as it progresses. STILL waiting for the BRP gaskets…..

Yup for sure please do post up as I am contemplating the same set-up. The "Yosh' is a for sure the "cat bypass" still to be determined.

Helped a friend put one on his RT. You don't need the gasket becuse it mounts one flat flange to the other flat flange. I would add a bead of high temperature silcone to seal any tiny gaps. Hope this helps.

Update on Yoshimura R-77 Slip on Exhaust Muffler to my Spyder RT-S

Here is an update Ref the Yoshimura R-77 Slip on Exhaust Muffler for my Spyder RT-S SE5 2010 Model

Just fitted a new Yoshimura Exhaust end can Stainless Steel on my Spyder RT- S This weekend

Purchased via e bay from a dealer in the USA

It was £390 = $629 inc Customs, Vat and P/P (2 weeks for delivery due to being held in UK Customs for over 1 week)
Comes with everything except the Exhaust paste used to join it to the existing exhaust system

The price quoted by the Official UK Yoshimura importers was £459 = $740 Therefore saving of £69 or $111

Its looks great sounds great and it saves alot of weight compared to the
OEM Rear can

Item on e bay = http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YOSHIMURA-EXHAUST-R-77-SLIP-ON-STAINLESS-EPA-CANAM-SPYDER-RT-2010-2012-/281001599270?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416d002126

They also do a Carbon Fibre version one but this is more expensive

Highly recommened company and item - If interested this is the company I used

Installed, and looks and sounds great. Check the Project Update thread in the RT Tech section for the video -post install. I tried to do a before and after sound check.

I find the sound in the cockpit to be actually less, but more robust behind the bike. It fully meets the strict Oregon sound requirements.

You might also consider eliminating the catalytic converter, at the same time, as I did.

Also drill out bafal on back side will sound good and better power you will see on inside back just take a flat head and knock out weld the undo it
