• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First Week On Three Wheels

I got my RT a week ago today and have put 650 miles on it. :ohyea: I'm much more comfortable with the handling. Adjusting the shocks to the #5 setting made a huge improvement. I'm still reaching for the clutch and front brake at times! I took a ride with multiple stops today and the bike drew a crowd every stop. I actually saw one other Spyder rs on the road! I'm having a blast and really enjoy the bike. I appreciate all the useful information I've gotten here. On to week two!

First week of three wheels

Welcome and keep enjoying your many miles and all the smiles you have. Where are you in the KY state? Hope to have a Meet and Greet around the Lexington and Frankfort areas soon, if you would like to join in.

I know those feelings, I bought mine in Feb. and have 4500 miles already and not a single problem. I tried my shocks at 4 for a while but ride two up a lot and it is better at 5 with two up. I am pretty well modded out right now but will most likely go with some Elkas next year.

This site has been a godsend in many different ways to me.

One of my problems, like you, I put a lot of miles on my new Spyder RT-S so fast I needed to get it in for its break-in service (due at 600 miles). My local dealer was scheduling service appointments 2 and half weeks out so I actually went back to my Goldwing (had it listed on craigslist for sale and took the AD down) so I didn't rack up too many mile too fast on my Spyder. Took it in at 710. Dealer suggested I try and keep it under 1,000 for its first service. Local dealer was already into his spring sales of new motorcycles, atv's, jet skis, etc. and service department was backed up.

You sometimes learn from others mistakes (i.e. don't loosen the battery connection under the seat; easy to loose a screw or bolt down the handlebar opening when working on the dash or adding something to the handlebars - use a catch cloth) as well as their successes.

Welcome. I came here AFTER I bought. Wish it had been BEFORE. But water over the dam.

congradulations

stinks that your dealer doesnt hire additional help for the summer season for services . :banghead:

I own a boat, jet ski, 2 motorcycles, zero turn lawn mower, etc. Interestingly, if owners were more thoughtful, it would help. For example, if you need your lawn mower blades sharpened - why not remove them and take them in for sharpening to the dealer in November to March (I live in Ohio). Everyone waits till their lawn needs mowed. LOL.

I think the biggest problem at my dealer was all the jet skis that needing servicing. The know they have a problem, but they lay them up for the winter and then want them RIGHT AWAY when the water first warms up. OH. And it would help if people would properly store their seasonal use vehicles, lawn equipment or toys. Run out the gas (or add stabilizer - yes I know, some people say stabilizer introduces it's own issues); charge the batteries and keep them charged or else you will suffer premature failure; I pull the plugs and fog the cylinders; while at it - fog the carburetor (it will smoke when first started next spring, but that goes away in few minutes); etc.

I am amazed at how many of my friends have tossed small engine equipment (pressure washers, garden tillers, mowers, snow throwers, etc.) because they have become unreliable or hard to start. Take care of your stuff - get things serviced during off-peak periods (if possible) and the world would be a better place.

My dealer has consistently had ADs running for parts and service help. I want experienced people. Not summer help working on my equipment.

:welcome:and :congrats:on your new bike :yes::yes::yes: :clap::clap::clap:
I bought mine 2 months ago and have 3012 miles on it and love it, love it, love it. :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

I agree, I don't want part timers touching the Silver Seal. It cost too much and I've seen what inexperienced service people can to to a Spyder and the good name of BRP. My 2011 runs flawlessly because I take it to the pros. Even if it takes a little time, I want to..........

Ride in comfort,

Every dealer has their top tech , and sometimes a service manager that should know everything . A new full time tech could not know that dealerships product inside and out , just as a part time person wouldnt . It is up to the service manager and top tech to watch over very step , inspect and test drive every machine when done . This goes for any vehicle service dept.

Noone wants the new guy working on there machine , we can all agree to this . But with the proper supervision , the small easy jobs can be done by a less qualified tech which leaves the more technical jobs for the top guys .

A Meet and Greet in Lexington sounds like fun! I'm about 90 miles southeast of Lex.
