• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First long/real ride

After commuting for around 400 miles and 2 weeks, I finally took my wife for a 150 miles ride today on one of the nasty Bay area road: mt Hamilton from San Jose to Livermore... I was surprised many times by the "nannies " cutting off in a middle of an hairpin or some small twisties! For the 1st time ever my wife felt motion sickness. thanks God she had a very light breakfast !!! I have a huge blister in my left hand (can't really use my right arm so the left is doing everything!). Maybe I need fatter grips (any idea with the heated grip?)... Compared to any bike I feel that there is no way to relax at anytime on my RT: if you snooze you loose and it can be dangerous !! Maybe I should try to go slower ?? Maybe relaxation will come with the miles?? I can see that our normal vacations of 4/600 miles a day will have to be cut in half with a spa/massage every evening!!

Ahhhh I believe that is what I have heard from many, many new Spyder Ryders...yep, relaxing and letting go the "death grip"...it comes with miles and miles....keep going, it will only get better...heck yes, line up the massage therapist (any excuse for a massage works for me). Seriously for me it was a very tense time until I had racked up the 1st thousand...now I jump on and GO..and the ryde is the relaxing part!!!:welcome:

I hated that nanny for the longest time because we've got a couple great corners on the way home and that dang nanny always shut me down.
I complained to Vaughn about it and he gave me a tip on how to accelerate less going into the turn and more coming out of it.
(That may be over-simplified; maybe someone else can give a better explanation than that.)
Since I took his advice, it's really changed my driving/accelerating and I rarely get visits from the ol' girl now.
And it didn't take the fun out of the corner or the ryde.
:agree: yes, relax the grip. . . . . and by all means, any excuse, get a massage
Relax and enjoy the ryde.

Murphybrown is right you need to relax. Are you coming off riding 2 wheels? If so, that will take you a little getting used to. Don't give up!

Definitely relax your grip and let the Spyder track down the road, as it is very good at it. The more input you give the steering, the more the Spyder will respond and you will feel like it is wandering all over the road. There is no way you should have a blister on your hand, even if you did all the steering with only one arm pushing and pulling the bars.

Love to relax my grip in switchbacks, but I do not know how!!!:hun:.... So what about fatter grips which work with the heating? I promised my wife to try to be slower in the turns and she did accept to go on vacations on the Spyder (like we used to do un bikes!), maybe at the 600 miles, this week, I'll ask to tighten the front shocks a little bit. Last question: apart of looking through the windshield whats the way to lower the level of buffering ? my Suomi jet is very noisy when I close the visor and its tiring to ride with it open...(I ordered a new helmet just in case its the helmet' fault :shemademe_smilie:). Any experience with the N43 Nolan?? I used to have Nolan while in Europe and they were great helmets but with a short life compared to Japanese products!
