• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First bug-gut splats! Spring is here!!!

MI's weather has FINALLY broken and we can ride every day! Today, my new RT got initiated with her very first splatters of bug guts, and for the first time in my 43 years of cycling, I had a windshield to collect them instead of my teeth!

What a fun day! I delivered eggs to my customers, stuffed the most groceries yet into my cargo cavities, got waves from EVERY other biker (and a VERY enthusiastic thumbs-up from one), and, most satisfying of all, gave hope to a young man facing back and neck surgery. He's afraid his MCing days are over and asked how I liked the Spyder, so I did my best to sell him on everything from the superiority of the tadpole configuration to the delta, to the price (he's been looking at HD trikes at $40K), to its intention for being used on highways (he wondered if they had the power for long, hard riding), etc.

I dunno, is it legal to have this much fun?

Riding weather finally arrived here in Wisconsin as well. So glad you are enjoying your new Spyder and passing that enthusiasm to someone who may be a future Spyder rider!

Good to Hear.....

That it is...time to ryde..:riding: glad you got out and were able to help inspire someone and give him hope ... Just wipe those bugs off and keep going...

Awesome! I took off the other day and had a huge bug splatter right in the middle of my facemask. Problem was, I forgot to bring a decent cloth with me and was scrounging for something to wipe it off. I am now well equipped to deal with the bug gut mayhem.

Thanks for reminding me to stick some Windex and paper towels in my frunk!

finally riding time in upstate NY also. great that you could give hope to someone.

I really miss the beauty of upstate NY. It's safer to ride here because SE Michigan is so utterly flat and straight, and I love our farmlands, but there's no wow factor like the hills and mts of NY have.

You All should move to Connecticut! No Bug Splats- Maybe a Tiny Knat on the windshield but that's it? Of course we have HIGH Taxes because of that?:lecturef_smilie:

Not only Windex but paper towels are probably one of the worst things to use on a stock windshield. Paper towels are notorious for scratching. I understand that some of the after market windshields are much more scratch resistant. A good microfiber cloth would be much better. There are numerous threads on the best way to clean bugs off bike windshields.

Thanks, Jack and Gary. I should've realized that I'll have to baby this windshield like I do my plastic prescription glasses. I'll search the threads, like you say. Jeeze, is there ANYTHING that's not delicate about these machines?

Michigan's state bird is the Mosquito. I'll ship you a breeding pair so your taxes will go down. :D

It was a beautiful weekend for Spyder riding in the MIDWEST.

HAd lots of people pulling up asking questions at the stop lights. :roflblack:

Lots of other bikers waving and the giving the 2 fingers. More than normal in my area.

Rons Shock adjusters worked perfect and noticed a even better ride on the corners now.(Also have Rons stabilizer bar) Its Like on rails around corners as others have stated.I was riding two up and was quite impressed. I only have it set for one full turn up.

Had the first bug guts weeks ago :) but I had to ride home before with frost on the bike, actually not bad at all on the F3 limited.

Either way, won't be long until the attack of the 17 year cicadas...

:congrats::coffee: I guess :dontknow: If that's how you measure your fun. Know some local poker runs offer extra participation charge for "bug dot challenge" (%of dot covered in splatter)where for extra $ you get a 1/2" circle dot sticker you place where you think is most likely for bug splat, do the poker run and at completion as you enter the lot a event host will inspect everyone's dots for a winner, most are charity events so rewards usually pay 50/50 (50% to you/50% to the charity)& helps raise more $$for the charity, as well as just dumb fun. Any other time ill end up driving thru a swarm of splatter till then it seems:dontknow::p May just be a local thing??
