• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Firefly... sway bar

Also note--- this CAN be done without removing the trunk-- just remove the lower bolts holding the bottom of the trunk on-- should give you enough to move the bottom of the trunk a bit to get in to the swaybar....

Did you install without removing the trunk? I ask b/c you say it 'should'. I just ordered the sway bar and was just wondering.

Did mine on the RS and RT without removing the trunk. Loosen the bolts, gently pry the trunk fwd and you will gain access to all bolts as required to remove/replace the swaybar

Dave,

Should I remove the 2 lower bolts and loosen the other 4?

Thanks

Thats how I did it. Then I put a pvc elbow ( 1 inch) I had laying in the garage behind the trunk to hold it out so I had 2 free hands. You can use anything as a spacer to hold the trunk away from the swaybar bolts. The elbow was within reach for me.

Wyliec, if you have a set of the evoluzione installation instructions, just do steps 6,8,9,10,11,and 12. For step 13, all you need do is replace the 2 bolts that hold the storage compartment on. There is no real need to undo any wiring or take off any Tupperware. The only tools you need are 10 mm and 13mm wrenches. If you want, you can use a prybar or a spacer to hold the bottom of the storage compartment out, but I did not find this necessary. I did not bother to jack up the Spyder, either, that's your choice. You'll find it an easy job, I'm sure.

sway bar

I put this in another thresd yesterday. I received my bar in yesterday and was installing it, without removing the trunk, but I noticed the new bar jumps out an inch or so in the middle. This is unlike the bar I am replacing as it is straight. I ordered it from Ken, on the phone, for an RS 2009. I went ahead and mounted it but the trunk won't lie against the frame like it did and the bolts are too short, as it is hitting the protuding spot on the bar. So...am I doing something wrong or did I get the wrong bar? The instructions are for a RS 08/09 and the paperwork is right, but I think the bar may be for a RT. I have pics in the other thread.

I would say that is the wrong bar. Mine fit just like the stock one and the trunk went back into place just fine.

Even the newer design bar with the additional bends will fit nicely. You may have to pull the bottom of the storage compartment out a bit more and wiggle the bar a bit. If you are using those C clamp type stoppers that were found on the original bar, remove them; they are unnecessary.

This what my new bar looks like with the extra "curves" in the front middle where the old bar was straight! When my trunk comes down it hits the new curve and doesn't seat well against the frame so I can put the two bolts in. I will try it again when I get home today. george at Evoluzione says it is the right bar for a 09RS. I mounted it without removing the trunk completely. It is strapped on the byke now, but the truk isn't against the frame.

I think someone else had a similar problem. I believe they removed the trunk and then when they went to re-install the trunk, they put the back end in first and then tried to rotate the front end in; that didn't work. I think once they tried to put the front and back of the trunk in at the same time everything was okay. I could be wrong about the whole thing.
