• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Finally ordered my Ryker

I pulled the trigger last weekend and bought a Ryker. It was my first test ride as well. I knew that as soon as I went to a dealer and test drove one I would not wait any longer. ;)

I opted for the Ryker Rally mainly because I was going to be getting the two-up option anyways and it seemed to make sense over the standard 900. Also, I felt that the better shocks, clearance and suspension would do better on the New England roads. I thought the tires and higher profile rims would give me a more compliant ride.
I still want to get the sway bar though but I am holding out to see how BajaRons sway bar does.

The only options I got were the comfort seat, passenger comfort seat and the tall passenger back support. I also got it with the orange panels. I initially was planning on getting the blue but they had the orange ones on display at the dealer and they looked SO nice in person that I changed my mind.

Needless to say I am excited about picking it up.

Ordered mine last weekend also. I got the Rally, with the passenger and driver comfort seat as well as the tall passenger back support. I also ordered the tank bag and the carbon black panels, I may change to silver, not sure. The dealer already had 2 on order so one is mine. My son may buy the other. Pretty excited also, cant wait to do some riding. I test rode the Rally also but it was kind of a demo and I didn't want it. I'm in no hurry, they are supposed to be in my the end of April, we will see. Dealer sold me the Ryker for MSRP, 10% off all accessories and only a $99 admin fee. No freight or prep. I'm just a tic over $13k for everything including Kansas Sales Tax. Oops, forgot, also ordered the windshield.

:congrats: IMO...you are doing good by holding off on too many accessories. I used to load up my purchases...many accessories were never utilized. Wait and see what it is you may really need.

Congrats!

But if it is a WIDER tire, it will be less compliant; a wider tire has greater chance of hydroplaning.

My Slingshot single rear tire hydroplaned at times, and I didn't even get the "deluxe model" which had a wider tire!!!

The Standard Ryker has 205/45R16 tires on it and the Rally has 205/55R16 tires on it. Which means that the Standard Ryker with 45 series rims has a lower profile and a shorter sidewall. This, to me, means that the ride will be stiffer and send more road feeling up to the driver.

The Rallys higher sidewall will be more forgiving on road bumps by cushioning slightly more than the lower profile rims. That was what I meant by saying the Rally will be more compliant on my areas bumpy roads.
Perhaps you are right though as far as the tread width being wider on the Rally. If that's the case, I will just be buying rear tires a little less often. :2thumbs:

Congrats on your Ryker orders! But I sincerely HOPE you shopped around, because some dealers are shysters and take advantage of eager buyers, with excessive separate freight, assembly, and "dealer fees".

I saved $400 going to a west coast dealer. About equidistant away (about in the middle of FL), the east coast dealer was price GOUGING. When I bought my Slingshot in 2015, I saved $1,000 by buying from a Kissimmee dealer, rather than Orlando.

Saved $400 on what? MSRP? If so you are the first I have heard of. Or on over inflated set up and freight fee's? The dealers here in the central coast are MSRP and $100 to $200 admin fee and most will give you 10% off of accessories and no freight or set up.

OUT THE DOOR price!

When I read where you went to the west coast, I thought you were talking about California. I thought that was a far way to travel to buy something. Then I remembered the shape of Florida and figured out you were talking about the west coast of Florida. :joke:

Here, CA is the left coast to distinguish from Tampa/Ft. Myers/Naples areas. :ohyea:

Those OTD prices are going to vary widely state to state, the only thing you can really compare across the country is the price of the unit, accessories, freight and prep. All the rest is variables, taxes, lube or dry, you get my drift. Around here we are at MSRP, 10 to 15% off accessories and admin fee of $99 to $199 is consistent here. Look at the line by line on the Bill of sale and that will tell you how bad you got reamed.
