• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Finally did it, went with an F3-S!

(Long post, but thanks for reading! ;))

After holding out about 2 1/2 years, I finally did it and purchased an F3-S!! Over the years, I had considered the every model! ;) I just didn't feel right about any of them!

A little background about me. I have ZERO, ZIP, nada experience with any type of motorcycles, 2, or 3 wheels! Balance issues, aren't a problem for me though, I've been a bicyclist for almost 30 yrs! I have always been a car guy, but not really a "motorcycle guy". Although I've liked motorcycles, and admired people who rode them, I just never felt confident about riding one myself, even though I know I probably could! The prospect of "dumping it" was enough for me to not want to ride one. (I'm familiar with crashing on a bicycle, and I know it's worse on a motorcycle, so that was always enough to keep me off one!)

I became interested in the spyder when they initially came out, so I went to look at one! I liked the look of the RS, but didn't like the positioning, and questioned if I could ride it. But it was interesting to me. Then I looked at the RT. While I did like it, with all the luxuries and stuff, some of the "issues" I read about on this site, made me question its reliability and the electronic complications. Also, the RT, although really nice, just wasn't my cup of tea. I really didn't have any interest in touring cross country or anything like that so I decided to wait.

Then the ST came out. I saw it as a nice compromise between the RT and the RS, so I went to look at one again. I had a really short ride on one around the block at a dealer and was intrigued with the ST. I considered getting an ST Limited with all the goodies, but decided to hold off since my father was having health issues and I decided to forget about a Spyder for a while. This was in 2013, I had even gone as far as getting my motorcycle instruction permit! I decided against it then because of the cost and things I was continuing to read on this site about problems that people had been experiencing with their spyders!

When I saw the new F3, I decided I had to take another look!! I went to look at one at Rob's Performance in Johnson Creek, WI a few weeks ago on a Saturday, and spoke with Dave. I've been working with him off and on for the last few years! He's extremely easy to work with and very patient with me considering how long it took me to make a decision. I never felt rushed to make the purchase!! I sat on on one that day and decided I could get used to this! I liked the different seating position and the flexibility of the UFit system! Since it was close to closing time that day, I told Dave that I'd be in touch soon and would let him know. I went back to the Rob's last Saturday, the 21st, and test drove one! I tried an F3-S, and liked it a lot, but I was using a half-helmet, and didn't like the way it lifted off my head from the breeze! But it was definitely a fun ride! The one I drove had the BR windshield and I really didn't mind the wind, just didn't like the feeling with that helmet, so I went back and got a full-face helmet. After that, I was in LOVE! That was the trick! The wind didn't bother me at all and I absolutely loved the F3-S!!!

As it turned out, I called back two days later and put a deposit on the exact one I drove!!! The deal was completed today, I'm all set to be a Spyder owner!! I'm going to go back to Robs this Saturday, if not sooner and sign my paperwork. It's MINE!

thanks for reading and allowing me to ramble!

. . . . I do too. :p

I always find It interesting how people end up on Spyders, so thanks for the background.

You are starting out on one of the best Spyders ever made, consider yourself spoiled! You have a lot of enjoyment ahead of you. Congratulations!

That's what I'm hoping for! I think I waited long enough! But I think the wait is going to be worth it. Signing paperwork on Saturday, and they are even going to deliver it to my house for me! That's awesome service! I was really surprised when Dave told me that. The dealerships just a bit too far for me to ride, based on my experience level. (Which I know will change!)

Welcome aboard....

Congrats on the F3. I'm also a newbie and just purchased a RS-S. A lot of great people in the forum too! Practice, BE SAFE and enjoy!

Congrats from O-H-I-O

Congatulations on you getting your new F3, enjoy the heck out of it. I'm getting close to "pulling the trigger" on one myself whenever our Ohio roller coaster weather settles down. April is looking promising on the forecasts and that's pretty soon. Have fun and stay safe!!

Congratulations

Similar situation. Owned a Honda CB500 34 years ago for 6 months and sold it. Never rode a motorcycle before buying it and never rode one since. Now that my son has just got a street bike I want to spend time together as we get older so I went ahead and found a 2014 Spyder RT still in the box. I'm also finalizing everything on Saturday. Dealer is 2 hours away and part of the deal is to deliver the bike. I'm waiting to take the 2 day Spyder training course before starting my adventure.
