• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Finally an RXX Spyder snowmobile

My 2013 Ski-doo MXZX 800 etec weighs about 475 lbs and makes about 162 hp. That RSS makes 100 hp and weighs about 700 lbs. This is not good. Snowmobiles are for snow, Spyders are for pavement, anyone that has any sense of enjoying performance would never mix the two. Just my 2 cents.

I also did not mention how the tranny will hold up to the increased torque strain from the resistance of the slide rails. This is not a good idea folks. You can buy a very good used snowmobile for $3K.

Yo Brew, if that thing even has slide rails /hyfax ......they have to be " miniscule "....at least from what the pictures show......Also I have no DOG in this hunt so I'm not promoting it ......But since I always think "out of the box" and these people are also ....they are my kind of people......... :hun: :agree: ....Mike

Wilbur & Orville had a dream too... Even tho the masses said it would never fly:hun::bowdown: Thanks to all the dreamers out there!:clap:even the one's that thought 3 wheels were better than 2:yes::yes::yes:

As I remember the story, the spyder started out as a kit to convert a Ski-doo into a three wheeled motorcycle. The thing was fun but didn't work so well so they designed the spyder as a road only vehicle. I am all for out of the box thinking, but you are talking about inventing something that already exists in a highly evolved state. Todays snowmobiles are incredibly well designed, with excellent fuel efficiency, powerful, nimble and comfortable. The picture of that RXX is interesting, perhaps a little funny, but practically speaking you would be foolish to spend 3K to do that to an RS. You would get a spyder that at best could perhaps ride a little on the trails and at worst be dangerous and probably damage the RS significantly. Why do this? For 3K you could get a 2006 or '07 entry level sled with low mileage that would blow away that frankenstein pictured here.

I was at Valcourt Quebec for 3 days to attend t 31st annual Grand Prix de Valcourt friday thru sunday and they now have a kit for the spyder. It was a blast to see this thing rip up the snow. I cant wait to take a test ride on this. I have over 300 photos that I took at the museum and races that I will up load when time permits. For now here is a few pics of the RSS. I called Claude at B-PWR Inc. and he said the conversion kit would be about $3,000 as they still have to make a chain guard and other minor detail changes to the kit. They are in the process of updating their web site with photos as it was just introduced at the races on sat for the first time look. There was a guy from Austria there that he mentioned was also interested in this kit. The company's web site is www.B-PWR.com

OMG, that looks dangerous! if your passenger goes off the back he's hamburger!

To each their own. But that is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

I am sure you would get a lot of attention but I don't ride my sled to draw attention to myself, that's just silly.

Bombardier should develop a spyder with more of a snowmobile design. Then they could sell their very own conversion kit and call it a Sky-doo. I am so :cus: smooth:ohyea:

And why wouldn't you just buy a snowmobile? It looks cool but the center of gravity looks pretty high to me.

One toy for year round fun? Cheaper than buying and registering/insuring two. Not sure the performance on the spyder in the snow would be as good as a dedicated sled, but for some it might be good enough.

I had mentioned this in a similar thread but no one even gave it a thought.

Since the :spyder2: is not supposed to be driven off road, how is it going to stand up when it is
beat up on a trail system? I sure would not take my :ani29:,s anywhere off road where they go snowmobiling.

The other question I posed was how are the delicate electronics going to take it all?

Why would any one want to trash someones innovative idea. Nowhere did it proclame to be a finished product or even available on the market, nor did it clame to even compete with a production snow machine. This person or group of people spent there hard earned cash, time and skills to see what they could come up with. It may not fly but at least they tried. Thats more than most of us can say. Is this why there is so little creativity... afraid of the backlash from those who won't.:gaah:

I would think that under certain limited conditions; it might be fine...
But...
It sure ain't a mountain sled
It ain't a ditch-banger (Well... they're not good at that as street machines either!)
It ain't gonna win too many snow-cross races

But for a gentle cruise on a smooth, packed field...
and if you think that they turn heads on the street... :yikes:

I am guessing that I am being referred to as the idea trasher.

But seriously, say you put the kit on, take it out and ride it like a snowmobile, then something major mechanical happens--you take it back to the dealer and want them to fix the :spyder2: under warranty--what do you think is going to happen?

The :ani29:,s are already pretty finicky, and they cost a lot to maintain, even when they are not being punished. I don't want to start a war here, but it does seem I am one of the very few with this opinion. Just my .02 on the subject.

I'm with you. That setup to me is not being creative, it's just plain foolish.

The Spyder has a definite sled look anyway (true to its origins), so I do not think it looks bad. I just think that it's components and electronics would not hold up to the rigours of winter. If you saw some of the issues cyncySpyder had when replacing some of the rearend and that was just road driving in very little snow. I would much rather have a sled made for sledding.
