• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Filler up?

Just filled up the spyder for the first time. Question: guage showed 1/8 tank. After 2 gallons pump shut off, an kept clikcing off, so I pulled it about half way out and put in 4.5 gallons. It kept clicking off. Is there a gallon reserve on the gauge?
Seems like I should have had to add at least 5.5. I did not want to push it and over flow, but I want to make sure i get it all in. I know some pumps are finicky though.

BRP recommends using the auto shutoff. There is a small hole near the end of the nozzle on the back. When it is covered with gas it shuts off. So insert the nozzle about 1.5 inches past the baffle on the fill pipe. Fill slowly.

Let's see..!!

when the low light comes on you have approx. 1 1/2 gal's left. How far that will get you will vary with your mileage. Best is to go get gas when the light comes on..mileage gets better as the bike get broken in..:ohyea:

Just got back from my 2nd fillup - at 148.6 mi took 5.1 gal. The light had been on for about 6 miles and the gauge was at E for about 15 miles.

mines been in the garage since last fill up... I got a sinus infection that has a nasty cough right now. Dont want to get dizzy while on the road... :-)

So I am take solus by installing my Sena SM10 in the helmets...

Was what was left of the fuel in your tank when you stopped for gas hot? I wonder if it was the resultant vapor that shut the nozzle off. It's happened to me more than I care to count but what seems odd is that you got two gallons in the tank before it started giving you a bad time.

My practice, and I'm sure you'll hear a few more, is to place the business end of the nozzle about two inches into the filler hole. Pull the handle 3/4 the way open or a bit more and let the tank fill. When the nozzle shuts off the supply I round up to the next dime (it's just me) and stop. What you don't want to do is risk fuel in your canister by pumping every last drop you can get into the tank. You're not going to get that much further until you'll need to gas up again.

I would say, speaking for myself, that at 1/8 showing on the gauge 4.5 gallons is in the ball park.

David, I sure like the color of your RT. Ha ha Go by the odometer and don't look at the gas gauge...It is not very accurate. See ya in Oct.

I've never gotten more than about 4.6 gallons into my tank, and that's with the low fuel light on. The fuel gauge on my Spyder seems to actually correspond roughly to about 4 gallons - if I have 30 miles on the trip meter, I'll be at about 3/4 of a tank, at 60 I'm at half, etc. I go more by the trip meter than by the gas gauge.

I put just the tip of the nozzle into the tank, so it's not in more than an inch or so - just enough so that I can brace it while I pull up the vapor recovery hood so that the gas will flow - and more often than not, I'll have to stop because gas is starting to squirt up onto my fingers, rather than wait for the auto-shutoff.
