Fender reflectors seem loose

How are the yellow, slightly curved reflectors that sit on the outside of the top rib on each fender attached? A friend just noticed that the center of the right hand one on my 2015 RT-S is completely loose. The center of left one has only about half the play. They're clearly tacked on at each end, but I can't tell how. Is it merely adhesive? Are they tacked or riveted or screwed? Or do they simply pop in? Is it normal not to have any attachment along the center? Or has something given way there?

They are held on by speed nuts but you can use double sided tape to stick them back on.

Thanks, Ann. Mine are still very well attached, but at the ends only. Is this the way they're supposed to be? Or were there speed nuts at the center at one time?

On the amber reflectors there are three speed nuts, one on each end and one near the middle. The red reflectors have two speed nuts. One on each end.

Ahaa. So the centers of both of my amber reflectors have indeed lost their attachments. Thanks again!

I've found that if you find the proper 1/4" socket: you can push it down over them (While supporting the reflectors...), and tighten them up a bit! :thumbup:

Thanks, Bob. I'll have to look more carefully underneath to figure out how to get at them. So far, just feeling under there, it feels like a solid, smooth surface with nothing exposed to clamp onto.

I suggest going with the 3M tape, then you won't have to mess with them again. Even better, replace them with lighted reflectors and add some visibility.

Pull the wheel, an that'll give you access to the bolts that hold tha top piece on... (Maybe five of them )

Pretty certain you will need to either remove the fender assembly or remove the wheel, then remove the spine from the fender itself to secure the speed nuts. Myself, I only hear them rolling the Spyder out of the garage with a dead engine, so I never bothered to take the time to stop the rattle. Once the engine is fired, I never hear them.

I've been hearing a high pitched tinkling sound from the right front when going over bumps, which is 80% of the time. I wonder if it's been the loose nuts. Guess I'll find out now.

Okey doke. It looks like that's what I'll have to do. Danged roads around here. Hard to decide which are the most torturous on the bike - the dirt roads or the paved ones.

TricLED has a great set of installation instructions. (I was working on my fender lights this weekend.) It took longer to write this post than
to access the reflectors.
You need to take off the front wheel to get access to the bolts that hold the light/reflector
module in place. On On your RT and my ST there are 3- 5/16" screws and 2 Torx bolts holding the reflector
module to the fender. Once the module is removed from the fender you have access to the reflector strip attachment nuts.
Your reflector strip is held to the module with 3 push nuts (p/n732610072) #126. If they are loose, you can reshape the tangs on the
speed nuts to get a tighter fit.
