• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Faulty Sensor?

I have a 2010 RTSE5 with 1500 miles on it. About 6 weeks ago I started it one morning and the red engine icon on the right side of the screen started flashing and "limp mode" started flashing on the screen. The dealer towed it into the shop and hooked it up to their computer and the codes said the Spyder key was on, in neutral gear, park brake on and doing 158 mph. They called BRP and they said it was just a glitch in the sensors, clear the codes and everything would be OK. This was done and it was fine.
This morning I went out and started the Spyder and the same thing happened again. The dealer is closed until Tuesday so I will have to wait to get it in to the dealer. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with the info I have given? I am thinking a faulty sensor but am not a mechanic.:spyder:

I would tend to agree, but I would hesitate to guess which one. Could also be a CanBus communications, wiring, module integrity, or module programming problem. I suspect this may take some assistance from the BRP tech people to help your tech in tracing the source. I think they were correct to assume a "glitch" with just one occurance, and no other diagnostics to indicate a source of the problem, but a second or third occurance generally indicates a more serious underlying cause. Finding that cause will be the difficulty.

Got the Spyder back and again when they started it to take it into the shop the limp mode and engine icon had quit flashing. This time there were no codes in the computer. They have no idea and neither do BRP what is causing the problem. The service manager suggested if (when) it happens again, to drive it straight to the shop and not to shut it off. They will immediately put it on B.U.D.S. and try to locate the problem. Guess I will have to wait until the next time.:gaah:

I have an rs but I had a sensor go out on mine and the mechanic said they have had a few oil pressure sensors going out lately.Hope thats it with mine. suppose to pick it up in morning with no more problems.

No. The dealer had told me there was no way I could clear or check the codes in this situation. I am not real mechanical minded so I have to take them at their word.

You can check active (but not past occurred) codes. The procedure is in your manual. You cannot clear the codes...that requires BUDS. Some of these weird glitches show no codes.

If it happens again you can hold down the "mode" and "set" button and then hit the turn signal and that will show any active codes.
