• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. F3 vs. RS

here's my dilemma...... i have an '09 RS/SE 5 with over 40,000 CAREFREE (S)miles... ZERO issues since new...
i was hoping that
BRP would offer the 1330/6 speed in the RS for 2015... not so lucky on that one...
although i am
NOT fond of the F3 looks, i am a PERFORMANCE kind'a guy... drag racers all my life...

i
REALLY want that GIDDY-UP, and i'm thinking of buy the new F3, but my dilemma is; i DO NOT WANT TO GIVE UP MY RS....
my question to all of you,is;
is this over the top, or have other SPYD3R rides ever owned 2.... NOT 2: 1 for you, and i for spouse.... but 2 for YOU...?

Dan they'll be out shortly wait to see one in person and take a spin on one and see how you like it , I wanna try one but Im not a cruiser guy either and I think that one has too much cruiser in it. I like the riding position on my RSS and not changing that mind set.

I'm only answering this because you asked, as this is really is a personal decision. This is my opinion, for what it is worth to you.

It really depends on how comfortable you are financially, and if you are debt free. I would only consider it if you can pay cash without straining your resources. I, personally, wouldn't finance a new one (which amounts the same as financing the old one, since selling it would remove all of some of the debt).

For sure..!!

have several ryders that have RS + RT's. Totally different rydes and they usethe one that suits the ryde of the day.. Here's the real dilema...if you buy the F3 and they upgrade the RS/RSS next which would you keep..?? Would you sell both..?? Myself..happy with my RS set up my way and can wait and see. Would still like a bigger V twin...

i LOVE my RS... i have ZERO interest in an RT.... if i buy the F3, and then BRP intro's a 1330 RS/RSS in 2016.... i'd sell the F3, and buy the new RS 1330... then i'd think about selling the RS

my RS is paid for, and should i buy the F3, that will also be paid for at closing...

PS; Chu, i've got'a say i ALWAYS enjoy your input... when i see your LOGO, i ALWAYS read what you have to say... keep it up pal... see you next May (i hope)...

I think several SpyderLovers have multiple motorcycles, if not multiple Spyders. If I could afford it, I'd consider adding an F3, but I mostly like touring, and I'd end up using my RTS mostly. So what sort of riding do you like? Would you ride enough to do justice to two Spyders? If you have the means to do so, I'd say, go for it!

From a performance point of view...I would say F3 over RS. Big difference from the 998 to the 1330 RT.

I did have two RS, one SM5 and one SE5. I can imagine a lot more oomph with the F3 and the 1330.

If I had a crap load of money! I would own at least my RT, and RS as I took my course on one ,it was a blast and a new F3 just because it screams badass! But that would involve winning the lottery and starting my dream collection of vehicles!;) But two sounds doable if they are both paid for!:2thumbs:

I had an RS, and could never be comfortable on it. I don't even like most of the bikes that have pegs directly under your knee - hence the floorboards on my RTs. When I bought my recent RT, I sat on the RSS, not for me.

You seem to be the opposite, & actually like the crotch rocket position. Well the F3 is more like my Vrods - feet forward, and lots of performance. For many folks, these don't mix. If you can see yourself with a Ninja and a Harley Ultra in your garage, and really ride both - you might make it work. Otherwise, I'd wait. JMHO

I have been waiting for some real information on performance on the F-3, but so far all I have seen is the hype from those that have there hand in the cookie jar. I have been on the record of saying that this thing is BFU but if the thing performs, I would not see the front from the drivers seat. So how about some 0-60 mph or 1/4 times. I did talk to my dealer and he has also rode them and he said that if you are looking for performance get the manual as the 1330 SE6 is the same motor that is now in the RT with no changes other than a gearing change at the sprocket, and has that same smooth shift. I do like the smoothness of the shift, but not on an RS. I like the way my RS SE bangs through the gears without lifting the throttle. So when they are available, I have a drag race scheduled against my RS, then I can make an educated decision. I'm told they will be here in January, but will have to wait tell spring then I can decide if I keep my RS and get a slingshot or F-3 P.S. I don't care about top end mph, only 0-100 and how it handles the road.

I think that at one time; MikeGuyver had 3... :D
I'm not sure about his Stable right now though... :dontknow:

Listen; Just buy the dang thing, run the Bejeesus out of it, and then sell the one that doesn't scratch the right itch...

I share your frustration-- not a single rider with experience on both the F3 and the RS has yet to give a wholly satisfactory nuts-to-bolts comparison.

The cruiser position doesn't bother me from a comfort perspective-- heck, with risers and floorboards, I modded my RS into a standard, "ST-like" position years ago, so I'm not even a huge fan of the sport position on the stock RS (it's great fun... for about 30 minutes). Besides, thanks to the U-Fit the F3 looks infinitely more customizable position-wise out of the box than any previous Spyder, so I'm thinking you're probably able to achieve something approaching an ST, if not a full-blown RS position.

However, as an aside: is the U-Fit system easy to adjust? When the F3 first appeared, it looked like something a rider could adjust on the fly. But when customizing an F3 on the BRP site, it looks like you have to actually buy different components from the factory/dealer, i.e. it's not a one-size-fits-all system that an owner can reposition herself on the F3, you actually need different (and expensive, always expensive) parts if you wanted to change the ergos from a cruiser to a standard or vice versa. Ideally, I'd have loved it if you could switch this stuff at the side of the road (enjoy my cruiser on the highway, pull some bolts at a gas station, and voila, you've got yourself a standard for the twisties).

The above all said, what I'd really like to know is, how does the cruiser position affect the F3's handling through corners when compared to either an RS "sport" or an ST "standard" position? As many of us know, the best way to throw a Spyder around a curve involves pushing off the outside pegs/boards and shifting weight forward and to the inside. As a practical matter, the more forward your feet are, the harder this kind of shift would appear to be. Perhaps it's not as necessary given suspension/frame changes on the F3, but again, would love to just have confirmation that you can corner in an F3 as well as an RS (or even better!).

I know many people who have multiple car "toys" just for them, I had 2, until we bought the Spyder. If you can afford it, and have space for 2, get 2. You may decide you like 1 over the other, and everything will work out. If not, then you can just grab the one you feel like riding...

One thing I would say is don't trade the RS for the F3. You won't know if you like it until you put some miles on it. It would royally suck to discover you gave up something you loved to get something you hate...

Have 2 Spyders as long as you think you will ride the RS after you get the F3.I would probably just keep riding the F3 (new toy/bigger motor) and the RS will just sit there collecting dust in the garage

F3 w 115 hp and 850lb and my 08 RS 106 hp at 697 lb dry weight both --- don't see the hp gain I'm looking for - right now the 1330 RT won't beat my RS 0 to 100 - I am craving high HP - guess wait for demo ride to see if it enough ----- disappointed in only 115 hp grrrrrrrrrr

Disappointed? You haven't even slung a leg over one yet...
When you go into it already feeling as if you're going to be short-changed; how do you think that's going to affect your ecperience? :dontknow:
