There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. F3 vs. RS

I just found the pic of the F3's "frunk" in the F3 forum, and wow! It's downright puny! LOL!

It was a trade-off no doubt, half a "frunk" for 2 large side-mounted radiators up front... but yeah, it's still a puny "frunk" no matter how I look at it. Might as well just call it a "glove box".

I can fit a 31lbs bag of dog food in my RS's "frunk" and still have a little space left over for a 2 liter soda bottle (and I do this weekly, my RS serves in many roles). There's no way I could even consider an F3 (in spite of the nicer engine/tranny combination, the only thing I can find to like about the F3 so far).

In my humble opinion, the F3 isn't practical... maybe fun and powerful to ride, but not practical. BRP won't sell me a new Spyder anytime soon at this rate. This F3 just isn't what I want in a new Spyder. :lecturef_smilie:

But to each their own I guess.

Better Late Than Never

here's my dilemma...... i have an '09 RS/SE 5 with over 40,000 CAREFREE (S)miles... ZERO issues since new...
i was hoping that
BRP would offer the 1330/6 speed in the RS for 2015... not so lucky on that one...
although i am
NOT fond of the F3 looks, i am a PERFORMANCE kind'a guy... drag racers all my life...

i
REALLY want that GIDDY-UP, and i'm thinking of buy the new F3, but my dilemma is; i DO NOT WANT TO GIVE UP MY RS....
my question to all of you,is;
is this over the top, or have other SPYD3R rides ever owned 2.... NOT 2: 1 for you, and i for spouse.... but 2 for YOU...?

I've put 10k miles on the RS and over 7k miles on a F3 SE6. The F-3 is the way to go. It performs better in every respect. I took a serious extreme cornering lesson on the F3 prior to a run up the Devils Highway. My coach is terrific and Spyder factory certified. He had me doing extreme tight cornering maneuvers that I thought were impossible. For the first time I felt a zen like relationship with the bike. Many of these moves are possible because of the 4" lowering of the center of gravity , a major change on the f3. Yes the f3 has the additional horsepower to get you from 0-60 in 4.8 on a bad day but it is the massive increase in torque that propels you from 40 to triple digits in a heartbeat . Sadly, the triple on the RT doesn't quite get the job done. The power to weight ratio is insufficient if you have need for speed and the high seating position will be scary as centrifugal force will be your enemy. Regards and be safe out there.

Damn, Dude! My eyeballs hurt..................turn that full color yelling down! :joke:

As you can see from my sig, I've got three bolt on mods to my engine. I'd love to have it dynoed (talked to three shops with motorcycle dynos, and they won't touch my Spyder), but if I were a betting man; I'd guess around 115-120 HP and 80-83 ft/lbs of torque at the crank. I see BRP lists 115 HP for the F3 (and 96 ft/lbs of torque), though I'm not sure if that's a crank or R wheel figure. F3 dry weight is listed at 850!!!!!! 2015 RSS weight is listed at 798. If I remember rightly the dry weight for my '12 RSS was listed at 699.

If I could get it; I'd want exactly 3 things from the F3. That 6th gear, the bigger front wheels/brakes, and cruise control...........................otherwise, I'm still very pleased with my RSS. BRP went exactly in the wrong direction on the F3's weight, I HATE (see what I mean :joke:) foot forward controls, and BRP's decision to run with the Yamaha V MAX intake scoops and RAM pickup grill were :roflblack:. Those styling elements sucked :cus: on the original vehicles and didn't improve any on the F3. Not that I'm opinionated..........................or anything. :)

Still like to figure a way to shoehorn my ZX14 motor/transmission into my Spyder and ditch about 125 lbs of Spyder blubber!

i gotta say most of your post is spot on. I think the F3 looks like a gyno table with a fridge bolted to the front. The engine sounds lousy, revs slowly, it drives heavy, the seating position is embarrassing..... Should I go on? Where is the future of Spyder's, hopefully not this! My next machine will be a leaning trike, and it won't look like a Gyno-fridge. And being semi-reclined is not comfortable either, that is a myth that exists even in the 2 wheeled world as well

I'm fortunate to have had the opportunity to earn enough to buy and own what I want, within reason. I sincerely hope BRP adds some sizzle to the lineup, and absolutely do not lose the rippin' V-Twin. That damn car motor in the F3, so unimpressed.
