F3 Recall - Chassis reinforcement

RECALL

I've been out of town for a few weeks, and I just got back so I just checked my F3 and it's part of the recall, but the interesting thing was, I called the selling dealer and they haven't heard anything of a recall, after a little coaching the service manager finally found it and has ordered the parts.
If you're waiting on a call from the dealer or a letter from BRP don't hold your breath. Get on the phone and call your dealer. This should be listed as a safety recall, but I guess that since no one has been hurt it won't.:doorag:

Maybe some of you are struggling with your dealers because this isn't a "recall"?....Its a warranty bulletin/campaign. Yes, there is a difference.

Recall on chassis

Just heard news about F3 recall. Chassis reinforcement is needed due to reports of some F3 chassis breaking.
Going to ring my dealer in morning to get some more clarification on issue. Apparently all F3 models are affected.
Would be great to hear from others on this issue.

I took my F3 to Barney's in Brooksville Florida to have the recall done, They did it while I waited and did a very good job, I would recommend this dealership to anyone, it is a class act.

:banghead::banghead::banghead: ..........Ya know, it only takes a couple post anymore, after somebody takes the time to explain that a warranty/bulletin campaign is issued for a problem, and some people that don't pay attention, start calling it a recall again. :banghead::banghead::banghead:
no wonder a lot of members get tired of this kind of posting........come on people.....pay attention !!!
Rant's over :banghead:

Called my dealer also to see if my F3 was on the list. He told me yes I had 2 recalls/warranty items.

1. Chassis reinforcement - which I knew about
2. Brake line replacement/relocation - I did not know about this one. maybe its in the forum so I might have missed it. apparently the brake line is to close to the exhaust which is causing the brake line to rupture.

Diagram missing other vital screws and nuts

Check to see if your F3 is on the list. Pretty easy fix. Share with your F3 friends.
EDIT= This bulletin is intended for ALL 2015 F3 models.

P3 and P4 aren't even shown their proper installation location even though there is Holes in this bracket for the P3 and P4 nut and bolt to be put. They aren't even mentioned other than the item list. Hmmm, wonder why only 1 P3 and P4 were used on my F3s. Just another thing in the list of concerns wrong in my purchase of bike

I just got my done.

I bought 2015 last month. They told me about the safety bulletin and had ordered the parts. It only took about half an hour. Still doesn't provide any comfort with bumps though.

I don't think it was designed to provide comfort over bumps....that's more of a shock issue.

Recall for muffler bracket

they are a second recall all F3 model (muffler bracket) ...check with your dealer

WARRANTY CAMPAIGN

I HAD MY F3 IN LAST MONTH FOR THE INSTALL OF THE BRACE. NOTHING BUT A PIECE OF ANGLE METAL PUT IN UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT. THE BRACE HAS 4 HOLES IN IT, THE F3 ONLY HAS 2 IN THE FRAME ALREADY. THEY HAVE TO DRILL 2 MORE HOLES. NOTHING TO IT. I STILL THINK THAT THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY THE REAR SHOCK BOTTOMING OUT. FROM ALL OF MY RACING DAYS CARS ,BIKES, WHEN YOU HAVE TWO PIECES OF METAL JAMMED TOGETHER ENOUGH TIMES SOMETHING IS GOING TO BREAK. I INSTALL THE NEW SHOCK ALSO MYSELF. YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH BETTER IT MADE MY F3 HANDLE. I BELIEVE I COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT THE BAJA RON BAR INSTALLED . THATS MY 2 CENTS

Hi all,

There was indeed a proactive warranty campaign released on January 12th regarding chassis reinforcement on the F3 and F3 S, to halt or prevent a crack around the welding of the rear shock absorber upper bracket. The reinforcement kit will ensure full long-term structural reliability of the frame section. It's important to note that in the unlikely event any further crack or deformation should appear in the same area addressed by this warranty bulletin, BRP will cover this frame repair under a lifetime warranty.

Also note that this is not a safety recall. You should still get this bulletin performed to avoid any preventable damages. General dynamic behavior and handling capability are not affected.

Its good to see the move to preserve the integrity of the chassis, but why not solve the cause of the problem - the rear spring is too weak to prevent the rear suspension from bottoming out. You need to change the rear spring to eliminate the constant bottoming out impacts to the chassis. (http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?89968-F3-two-up-shock/page3)

The constant bottoming out is like having a small jack hammer beating away at the chassis until metal/weld fatigue gives way.
The cheap way to fix the problem is to reinforce the part of the chassis that is failing. The problem is that your reinforcing of the chassis in a specific area will only transfer the impact loads to the next weakest point in the chassis. Who knows where that would be - hint: it will be a part of the chassis connected to the rear shock absorber upper bracket.

It seems to me, this could become a safety issue if the upper rear shock frame/bracket fails, the rear of the bike could collapse causing a possible loss of control of the bike. BRP should not characterize this as a proactive warranty campaign.

My 2 cents. I will go back to riding my ST now...

I called my dealer and he didn't know anything about it. He said the parts would be auto shipped to him. He didn't seem to care anything about it either.

I called BRP today. They said it is a Recall and my bike was one of the ones recalled. They made case and assigned me a number. Now bak to the dealer...

How many total warranty campaigns have there been so far with the 2015 F3? I'm aware of the chassis and brake line. Any more??
