• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F3 OEM Signature Light died - can I use its wiring for a/mkt replacement?

As you all can probably gather, I have the above light from BRP now half of the strip is not working and unrepairable, so I have now picked up the Rocket Bright Light to replace it, the question I have am I able to use the wires from the old signature light, (remember it has a relay) so I am looking at cutting the wires after the relay then attaching the new light using the old wiring including the relay.
Even though the gut is saying it will work I am not that sure on what the relay does and will if stuff up the light, the questions I have are:

1. will it work;
2. would it be best to use the customer accessories connection; or
3. just try it and see?


If it works, it'll be one easy install :)

As I was typing, I found the answer customer accessories apparently as the relay is part the problem

A relay delays energizing the circuit until after the engine is running. This conserves battery capacity to fire up the critical electronics and start the engine. I also use relays to isolate high current loads of my aftermarket stuff. We have Lamonster Garage and TricLED front lighting on our F3 models.

Although I have not worked with the OEM Signature Light or the brand of your replacement, they are likely all LED-based. The OEM Sig Lt is single color, so no controller is needed: the "-" and "+" wire energize the circuit and turn the light on. If one is using a multicolor and/or programmable light, there will be some sort of controller in the loop. But, there are still only the "-" & "+" wires that lead into the controller. That stated, I would tie into the OEM wiring, after the relay, matching the wire polarity going to the light or its controller.
