• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

In addition, I am surprised that people on this site commonly use the term "family" to describe our web community, but then don't seem to be overly concerned when members of the "family" get mistreated by a merchant. If there was a shop in your neighborhood that treated you really well, but disrespected your siblings or significant other, would you think it was o.k.? Would you keep financially supporting such a business?

There are plenty of places that my parents, in-laws or siblings shop that I won't set foot in for one reason or another. i.e. The restaurant near my folks house that I got poor service and poor food at and won't go back but my parents continue to eat there. They are still my family and I love them but we do not agree on everything. We do, however, treat each other with respect and love and 'agree to disagree' on certain things. I think that is more the definition of our SpyderLovers family.

So by your definition if someone has stolen from a family member BUT is nice and courteous to you it does not matter, he gets your business because...... I hope that is NOT the definition of Spyderlovers family :-(`

I've been following the windshield discussion as I'm interested in the adjustable screen, but really wonder about the service many folks have received from this company. In addition, when the screen was first announced I called and asked to be put on the waiting list--and was given a priority number--but was never contacted again. Seems a bit odd from a business perspective.

The bottom line is that although everybody here likes their spyder, owning a common piece of machinery does not make a "family!" The rule of thumb with Marcel is that sooner or later, he falls on his face. Again, it seems to be with about 50% of his customer base, but he keeps getting new ones to make up for it. To each his own. Just like in a real family, we all have different views, beliefs, etc. As long as we live and let live, then the world keeps spinning! I won't do business with the crook as I arrest crooks and liars for a living and I do my best to not do business with them! Marcel is one as he has proven over and over again, but even crooks have their good days and they don't cheat everyone they come in contact with.

I do see your point, but I think there are some significant differences to consider. Getting poor service on a ten dollar lunch at the corner diner may be a result of a lazy server or poor cook. In addition, a meal is subjective whereas not having a product delivered seems fairly objective to me. With the windshield, we are talking about considerably more $$ than a meal and the problem cannot be blamed on a lazy employee--it appears to be the owner in this case. It's just hard for me to think about enjoying the "candy" when I know others, for no apparent reason, are getting the "stick."
 
I will continue to use Marcel in fact I just got new stainless screws in mail for my w/s no note just screws. Safe to assume they must be a improved part, thats service----However I never publicly lashed him either, point is lets be civil, this is a public forum.:chill:
 
It's so many of these stories that all sound the same that pushed me away from ordering the F1.

I went with the Calsci instead. I ordered on a Monday and I was putting it on my spyder on a Wed afternoon. Can't beat that service.

I did the same thing. Considered the F1, but after reading the reviews I didn't feel like "flipping a coin" to see if I was going to get a good product or... not.

So, I ordered from Mark at CalSci. They know their stuff and their service and communication is top shelf. And, the product works/looks great.
 
The many forums that I have been on for the many different brands of motorcycles that I have owned have always been an excellent source of information as to who to buy from and who to avoid.

I don't necessarily condone "bashing" a vendor. However bad service stories have a right to be told whether it be for venting or out of wanting to prevent a forum member from having the same bad experience that you did.

I would think that in a situation like Marcel where he has been on these forums and knows what is being said that he would make efforts to provide consistent customer service. While quantity is always important to the seller a small business must also provide exceptional quality as well if they're going to survive.

Like I said before, as long as you are not affected by that theft, you will carry on giving business to the thief. That is called " as long as NOT IN MY BACKYARD SYNDROME ". I have to civilly respect that choice.


Look guys, I am just being honest, no beef. Whence someone sticks it to you, taking your cash, not delivering the goods, calling and apologizing and lying that they are on the way and doing it to countless victims. That is fraudulent action................I will not support that business, it is not a victimless crime, even then anyone should face the consequences.



This is my last post hopefully on Marcel and his degrading activity.

I posted on this site on the 16th and I got the windshield today the 22nd. I was one of the first person to pay a deposit on this windshield, probably about 4 months ago. No thanks to him for this debacle, I will never recommend him to anyone. As far as I am concern the only reason I got the shield was because I personalised his incompetent on this forum. Do NOT SUPPORT MARCEL. GOOD RIDDANCE TO SMELLY RUBBISH. THE WINDSHILED DOES NOT EVEN WORK AS PROMISED>

This sure is a conflicting subject. I've had some issues with a couple of F1's. Like holes not lining up-too tall. But Marcel has always done his best to correct the problem. Now I have a F3 and it works pretty good. But with it, It is bent back toward the driver too much. As the vents from the vent holes rub on the Spyder dash and makes the shield too low and your hands & clutch lever hit the shield when you make turns. Way below eye level, where I would like it. But I have not contacted him on this. And I probably should, I'm just tired of sending it back and forth.
 
Ordered my F3 from Marcel, he told me 8 to 10 days I called Marcel on the day eight he called me back on day ten and told me it would be delivered that day. And It Was! talked with him several times came across as a very nice guy. We even talked about my German ancestry for about ten min.



I am one of those guys that seldom complain or is negative about anyone BUT this takes the cake

I ordered a windshield from MARCEL of F1 windshield. That was about 4 months ago.

Firstly, he took an extra $100 from my credit card acct before he refunded it back to me 6 weeks later, the windshield still had not arrived.

Secondly, he did not send my windshield for another 4 weeks, I waited patiently for that to take place. I called him 10 days ago, he gave me a plausible excuse I accepted after he said he will send me the windshield with a $50 gas card. That was 10 days ago. No windshield. I left him a message 2 days ago, no calls.

What do you do with a habitual liar who wants business from forum like ours but does not deliver the goods.
My take on this is, no business. Nobody should give him a deposit as one never knows if he will or may go out of business or refuse to deliver.
My next alternative is to complain to better business bureau or a consumer agency in his State as well as DC.


I got a call from my dealer, my SE has arrived. Sold my SM.

He truly sucks. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE HIM ( Marcel of F1 shield) YOUR BENEFIT OF DOUBT I DID AND GOT SCREWED. for nearly $300.



P.S..If you look at past post I am one of those guys who supported him when someone else was horrible.

It worked for me

Maybe I just got lucky, but I placed my order with Marcel 10/9/08 and he
told me that he was running a little behind and it would take 2 to 3 weeks.
To my surprize I got a call from his wife 6 days later on the 15th to
verify my address and said she was shipping it that day. I received it on the 17th and it's fine. I'm kind of glad that I didn't read all of this before
or I might not have ordered it:2thumbs:
 
not to harp on it but why do you say it doesn't work as promised?


Told him my height and he recommended one that he sent, my head is doing a spin.........buffeting on the ear is scary. And I waited 4 months for its arrival. Go figure.
