• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am one of those guys that seldom complain or is negative about anyone BUT this takes the cake

I ordered a windshield from MARCEL of F1 windshield. That was about 4 months ago.

Firstly, he took an extra $100 from my credit card acct before he refunded it back to me 6 weeks later, the windshield still had not arrived.

Secondly, he did not send my windshield for another 4 weeks, I waited patiently for that to take place. I called him 10 days ago, he gave me a plausible excuse I accepted after he said he will send me the windshield with a $50 gas card. That was 10 days ago. No windshield. I left him a message 2 days ago, no calls.

What do you do with a habitual liar who wants business from forum like ours but does not deliver the goods.
My take on this is, no business. Nobody should give him a deposit as one never knows if he will or may go out of business or refuse to deliver.
My next alternative is to complain to better business bureau or a consumer agency in his State as well as DC.


I got a call from my dealer, my SE has arrived. Sold my SM.


He truly sucks. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE HIM ( Marcel of F1 shield) YOUR BENEFIT OF DOUBT I DID AND GOT SCREWED. for nearly $300.

I posted on this site on the 16th and I got the windshield today the 22nd. I was one of the first person to pay a deposit on this windshield, probably about 4 months ago. No thanks to him for this debacle, I will never recommend him to anyone. As far as I am concern the only reason I got the shield was because I personalised his incompetent on this forum. Do NOT SUPPORT MARCEL. GOOD RIDDANCE TO SMELLY RUBBISH. THE WINDSHILED DOES NOT EVEN WORK AS PROMISED>

Did you call the credit card company? Some of them will work for you to get your money back. I had it work for me a couple of times.

He also started his own forum, canamspyders.com, perhaps because he didn't like the negative publicity on the others?:dontknow:
 
My experience with Marcel was positive. Many others have had similar complaints as you so the lesson seems to be:

I had a time issue with him...but nothing like what you went thru. He told me 8 to 10 days and it took 4 weeks...just think he is too busy...seemed like a nice guy but it did get irrating when he would keep promise it and then it won't show up. By the way the slider I ordered was worth the wait!!!
 
One of Marcel's big problems seems to be inconsistancy. Like daddydarko, I have not had a problem with him, his delivery schedule or the credit card charges. My wife and I together have gotten 5 different windshields from him without incident. Three of those were free, one for helping with product testing / development, one for winning a custom Spyder contest and one because he messed up and made a clear F1 when we ordered a light smoke F1 so he sent them both. We've bought an F1 and EVO II and were happy with them. We currently use an EVO III and a slide screen. One of our Spyder friends in Michigan had some issues with him and the shipping time and billing thing but eventually those were worked out and they now have a slide screen that they really like. Not sure what his customer satisfaction rate is but he seems to be shooting about 50% judging by responses on the forums.

We would purchase from him again.

Marcel is truly a "buyer beware" dealer. When you look at MM and other dealers here, you never hear this kind of stuff. But Marcel feedback is about 1 good, 1 bad. If you don't end up on the bad side, it seems like you are pretty happy! I won't ever do business with him again as he over charged me too and I had to call him out on this forum before he would even consider my refund. And then he lied!! Based on my Pm's and emails, I am only one of many that this happened to.
 
I just ordered a Slider from Marcel. He told me his lead time was 3-4weeks. When I told him that I needed it for an upcoming trip he offered to send me a "loaner" until the Slider was ready. I have not received the loaner, but I will give him until next Monday or Tuesday to deliver. I can't say anything bad at this point, but I will keep you posted. I hope it was not a mistake, because the CHAD looks like a great option as well. I will check my credit card statement for errors.

I have ordered a few things from No Magic and he has always been "top notch" and on time.
 
if he would of told me 3 -4 weeks I would of had no problem with the purchase. Maybe he is starting to give actually times now...I think that is a wise choice
 
I recieved the loaner windshield today.....so Marcel has been on track so far. I know that this has been a good product for him and hope that this purchase goes well and within the time frames quoted me.
 
Thanks guys. I am not one to "scold" a business, but Marcel takes the cake. Incorrigible is what comes to mind. Make some happy and others not is not a good business practice no matter how good a product is.

I've not done business with Marcel so please understand my input.

I've bought two windshields from Cal-Sci. The second one was just to correct a simple error I made when over torquing the first one. In my opinion, the folks at Cal Sci have it down to a science. Literally.

For both orders.

- Within 1 minute of putting in an order on the web, I've received a confirmation email
- Within 2 hours of placing the order on the web, I've received an email from DHL with the tracking number that the order had actually been shipped
- Even though GROUND shipment was specified, the windshield showed up within 3 business days
- When it arrived, it was very well wrapped in a special cloth bag, had a bottle of cleaner and cloth, and all the holes lined up and the finish was perfect
- The function of the windshield was also perfectly as promised

In my opinion, this is the way to do business.

To show support to each other, I propose NO BUY policy from Marcel AND to support business that are ethical and honest.

While I see your point and understand your frustration, I don't see how asking a whole forum of people to not buy from one merchant is supporting each other. You see, I have had wonderful service from Marcel. As was mentioned in a previous post, there have been many happy and many unhappy customers, it seems to be divided. As much as I support your ideals, I can not support your effort. I can not in good conscious ask people not to deal with some one that I have had great success with. Marcel has always been more than fair, and available when I had any questions. Until I personally have a problem, I will support him. This is true of any merchant or individual that I deal with. I hope that all your issues are resolved soon and fairly though, and I wish you well.
 
I'm not one to dis Marcel either. At one time I had 3 F-1 windshields. I kept asking for a taller windshield and they kept sending me windshields. No questions asked. I now have the slider. It is awesome. Marcel and his wife have always been very responsive to my calls. I always say that good customer service is not being perfect all the time , it's how you deal with problems.

Now this is coming from someone that had a delivery problem. I do not condone baldev suggestion. Yes he was over three weeks late, but I really think it is he is just too busy. I never had a problem getting a hold of him or his wife...and they where always very friendly. I just added my situation to the posting so people would expect to wait a month for their windshield. The slider is a great product and is worth the wait. I just wished he would of told me a month so you don't sit there and get excited and then call...well you know what happened

Just that as long as I get a good service but others get screwed "thats not my problem", based argument deserves as much credence as someone who would, let that racist be racist or let that thief be a thief as long as it is not in my backyard??

I am not seeking any support BUT I will not support and will not condone such behaviour or business. Thats just being ethical and standing up to abusive action.

As long as it is not in my backyard makes one an accessory. Does it not!!

I've been following the windshield discussion as I'm interested in the adjustable screen, but really wonder about the service many folks have received from this company. In addition, when the screen was first announced I called and asked to be put on the waiting list--and was given a priority number--but was never contacted again. Seems a bit odd from a business perspective.

In addition, I am surprised that people on this site commonly use the term "family" to describe our web community, but then don't seem to be overly concerned when members of the "family" get mistreated by a merchant. If there was a shop in your neighborhood that treated you really well, but disrespected your siblings or significant other, would you think it was o.k.? Would you keep financially supporting such a business?
