• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F1 Mantis Fairing ?

I guess I am the odd duck here as I have two of his windshields both of which I like very much. Both were delivered to me in a timely fashion and the Queen shield which is on my bike now is really good.
Sorry you are having a time with the faring. There are very few mod guy that would take on trying to make one of these. Guess it pretty much all he can do to get these done.

I have had multiple F1 windshields also and, for the most part, I was very happy with them. I was a defender of F1 shields and Marcel initially but then I saw how his customer service could be very spotty at times and downright poor with a couple of friends of mine. I personally would still buy a windshield from him if I felt I needed to but I'm not ready to recommend F1 to anyone else for fear that they are the random customer that F1 forgets about or treats poorly.

I also don't care for Marcel's need to bash this website. I don't know the inner dealings between Lamonster and Marcel but I've been a member here for a long time, read thousands of posts and have never noticed any of these post deletions that Marcel refers to in the link Firefly provided.

I think the quality control sinks. They should have never posted those pics of the modifications. If you look at the top rear section, the light shinning on the sides is distorted, where should be straight lines. It looks home made by some drunk with a Sunday morning hangover and shaky hands. I looks like crap. I'd take him to court and get my money back pronto. I will never purchase anything from them and they should not be allowed to advertise or post on this site. They ruined that spyder.

Hopefully so as that gives you an easier situation with getting your $$$ back.

I would contact your credit card company and get your money back asap--- and if you're really still interested I would tell Marcel you might be interested in one--- if and when he gets actual production models IN STOCK and ready to ship.

He shouldn't take a DIME from people until he has units ready to ship. He's selling what is known as 'vaporware'.... and it's just not right.

Agreed...I, for one, certainly don't have patience and certainly not for a $5000 item...argh! Customer service is what separates one merchant from another. The sponsors here tend to do a great job with not only their products, but their customer service...

I don't post much. Also, for the sake of peace and tranquility ( :hun: ) - I try to stay away from threads of this nature. However, ... after lurking for quite some time on this thread :popcorn: and, after watching the sad history of Marcel July on this and other forums (not limited to the Spyder) I think that YPilot's optimism and patience has been stretched way beyond reason. At least Deb and Brian were dealing with a company who has a fairly good record of making things right with their customers. There are plenty of instances to substantiate this. BRP is a company who has been in business for years with a proven track record. On the contrary, F1 is a long way from meeting the same criteria.

Although I agree with SpyderWolf's statement in principle, unfortunately I believe the level of patience and "benefit of the doubt" that YPilot has shown to F1 will not be rewarded. Hope is eternal, however so .... if YPilot chooses to continue to have patience with this character - good luck!

It is said that free advice is usually worth exactly what you paid for it so with that in mind, my best "free" advice would be to pull the plug while hopefully you still can and do whatever it takes to get your money back quickly.

Hi Friends, I want to set the record straight on one aspect of this issue. The price for the fairing, when I ordered was $1299.00. That price was increased later to $1499.00. The price including the rear site case was $5000.00. Although I told Marcel when I placed my order for the fairing that I would be interested in the rear case I didn't actually tell him that I wanted it. However he assigned a production # to me for that as well. After seeing pics of the rear site case design I knew it was not what I wanted and after several attempts to contact F1 I finally talked to Ede (Marcel's wife). I told her that I did not want the rear case but that info was apparently not communicated to Marcel. The total amount I have invested so far is exactly 1/2 the total cost of both units! I asked about that during my last conversation with Marcel and I hope to be refunded part of that amount if I receive the fairing that I ordered so long ago. As many of you suspect my patience is thinning. I will attempt to call F1 Monday morning as I have a vacation day scheduled.
When I started this thread I was looking for another Spyder owner who had received one. To this date I haven't talked to one owner even though I did in fact receive a fairing that had to be returned because it was not correct. I'm almost done! :bdh: Marcel, Call me.

Well I guess I can be added to the list of being ripped off by Marcel.He's had my money ($1500.00) since last august and I can't get a time frame on delivery so I canciled and now I'm being hit with a 25% restocking fee on a product that he can't prove he is even making. I have to wait untill he sell the one he was making for me before I can get a refund on my money less the 25% restocking fee. If he ever makes or sells my order. Lesson learned I guess I'm just out the $1500.00. I did file a complaint with the link below.I know I should have listened to you folks.

Don't take this lying down--- I've found anytime I file a complaint with Visa they side with the consumer .

How can you restock something that never left? You need to get aggressive. There is no reason in the world to just plan on being out $1500, that is too much money. As Firefly stated, file a complaint with your Credit Card Company as well. You have been more patient with Marcel than we were about our spyders. I never had any problems personally with Marcel or his F1 shields, even had what I consider very good service. But there are a lot of nightmare stories lately, especially regarding the faring. Good Luck with your efforts.
