There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Extra fuel for long trip

We are getting ready to do a 5,000 mile New England trip and I want to carry an extra gallon of gas on the trailer. Probably won't need it, but one of those just in cases. Was thinking about making a carry point on the tongue in front of the cooler. Then I got to thinking about the vibration that close to the hitch with no suspension. Would that shake the gas up to the point of overpressurizing the container. And then, I thought about putting it in the trailer. It would at least have more suspension there. How do you guys carry extra fuel?

What kind of trailer do you have?

I installed a Roto-Pax 1.75 gallon can on the side of my old trailer. The gas can and mount cost just under $100.00. I never used it but was glad it was there.

I almost needed it on my way back from the Owners Event this year, but found a station just in the nick of time! Whew!

New England isn't that big. You could cross several states on a single tank of gas. Unless your somewhere less populated I wouldn't worry about it.

Don't worry: no CO2 in gasoline!

The RotoPax are great. We used them on a long trip. They are able to swell during the hotter times of the days and unswell when things get cooler. No leakage or dramas with them.

Tied them on top of our aluminum trailer or on the back of our bikes.

I wouldn't worry about it, we've traveled by bike (Valkyrie) all over the country before trading one in on a 2013 RT.

There's only one place I've found and it's way out west that has 120 miles between gas stations and the Valk (low 30's per gallon, feeding 6 carbarators) made it with a 5.3 gallon tank without any worries. Been to Maine 6 times and to California and thru the rockies from Pa. on two different Valk's several times and I've never found anywhere I couldn't get gas when I wanted it, let alone needed it.

Enjoy your ride. The Crab Box in Ipswich, Ma. Building is build to look like an open fried crab box. When construction workers are eating off the hoods of their trucks in a drizzling rain, you know its good.

extra gas

It's like a four wheel drive truck-you just go deeper into the mud before getting stuck. If you have a gallon more you just try to go the extra distance

I used to carry a Reda in my left saddlebag. First problem is that you can no longer use that saddlebag for anything that you don't want to smell like gas. I quit carrying it and I'm really glad that I did not have a full can of gas when my Spyder burned. Your gas tank on the Spyder is much thicker and won't go up in flames as quickly as a plastic can will.

I have a Reda like SpyderAnn01 said.
I took it with me on my SS1K ride, just to be safe.
With 30K miles, I never needed it.
Now that I have a 2014 I surely don't need it.
I've been all over New England, and one thing is for certain:
You will NOT be "going where no man has gone before"
Get a Reda and keep it in your trailer if you wish, but don't be uncomfortable.
I can't imagine you won't be able to find a gas station.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

:agree::agree::agree::agree::agree:........However if you are super paranoid about it........What I did was to buy a cheap aluminum water bottle and fill it with gas , this is the " don't have to walk or hitch a ride " gas ........just enough to get you where there is gas .........DO NOT RELY ON THIS AT NIGHT HOWEVER .......................Mikeguyver :thumbup::thumbup:

Probably won't need it, but you never know. We are going straight through the adirondack mountains. There is only one small road, no cell service. A gallon might make a big difference between getting stranded with no help and getting to a gas station. That stretch of the trip is the only one I am concerned about. I won't push it as far as driving farther because of extra fuel. We stop and stretch about every 100 miles anyway.

I've ridden SOME of 8... there's some pretty country up there! :2thumbs: But the parts that I've ridden, were west of the mountains, and South of Utica.
I'm a bit more familiar with 73 into the lake Placid/Saranac Lake area, and then 3 heading up toward Plattsburgh...
