I bought exstended warranty on a car once did not cover much or the deductable was high on what it did cover.
How many people have used their can am one. Did it cover most items? Is the copay high?

Just used mine

Bought the Can Am BEST warranty had to use it for ACS replacement only paid $50.00 deductible everything else was covered by warranty.:yes::yes: Still have over a year and half left on extended warranty will see if I can extend it additional two years in 2018. Money well spent.

Had the speedo cluster replaced ($50), air compressor replaced ($50). I purchased 3 year best at retail and these two parts were more than that.

We had it. Never used it. Everything that has caused an issue has been within the first 2 years.

Depends....

I don't get extended warranties but whenever I did I never used/needed them. This is not to say don't cause if you are a regular here you will read about many issues and many have benefited from having them. Many like the comfort of knowing they are covered and the one offered is pretty good. It's a choice mixed with a bit of faith in the product. If I had bought it for my spyder back then it would not have been used and she is now way passed that span and doing well. Just remember manufacturer covers you for 2 years at which point you can still get the extended warranty so you can see if you feel you still want it then...

On my previous 2012 RT, I had no problems until the month after the factory warranty expired. Threw some codes, and find that several sensors needed replacing. $50 deductible on the BEST warranty that I bought. The bill would have been close to $1,000 parts and labor. The one instance paid for itself, and I still had nearly 3 years left.

I strongly recommend getting the BEST warranty after your factory warranty expires. Just because the cost of components with labor are so high.

Yes, the B.E.S.T. extended warranty is a gamble. Whether or not you will need it is a crap shoot. More important, if something major goes wrong after the original factory warranty expires how deep are your pockets?

Purchased 3 yr best for my '12 RT-S, glad I did. Had some issues with it and the ecm was replaced. The cost of the replacement was more than I paid for the warranty. I'm still considering buying one for my new '16. BTW, I love the '16. :D Dale

The bottom line with extended warranties is that most of them are never used. It makes a great add on to the gross profit on the sale.

That said, when you really do need them, they usually pay off in spades. A good idea if you are worried about breakdowns after the main warranty has expired.

I have never purchased an extended warranty on either cars or my :spyder2::ani29:. So far, I have not had any :spyder2: that has given me issues with repairs out of the warranty period.

The roulette wheel continues to spin...

On the fence here also with ext warranty

I have never purchased an extended warranty on any vehicle but am contemplating one for my F3L. I am new to the Spyder world and haven't figured out where my comfort level is with the long term reliability of the bike although nothing has gone wrong in the short time I have owned it. My other vehicles are (2005 Ford F150 and 2006 Toyota Avalon) 10 years old each and they have survived without an extended warranty and have only routine repairs done on them.

I am on the fence with regards to the extended warranty and have 18 months left on my original manufacturers warranty.

Take your time and read through the threads here on SL and judge for yourself. Just my 2 cents I wouldn't own a Spyder without the BEST warranty unless I planned on getting rid of it before the warranty expired. That said you can decide to extend your warranty before the original warranty expires.

I had it on my 2012 RT-L and never had to use it. I asked dealer service manager about putting it on my 2014 and he suggested not to do it. Per him and the salesman. the 1330s just have not had enough problems to warrant the expense of the extended warranty. Plus, he said that the coverage of the current extended warranty is different from the old one and that coverage is not as good. Make sure to check what is and is not covered.

I've used my BEST warranty once. Only paying $50 bucks for a LOT of repairs really saved my bacon.Bacon.jpg If I never use it again in three years, it just paid for itself. Ask JT, he basically got a new engine for $50.00 after a really bad breakdown.

Extended Warranty

Due to the fact that I don't always buy a main stream motorcycle, extended warries are a must.

My insurance of choice is Zurich insurance company. I bought a Moto Guzzi Norge(still have it) a year after owning it the digital display went south. Costs $1200.00. Called the Zurich customer service, done, no deductable, parts, labor and yowing covered 100%.

I friend bought a Ducati Pangali used(almost $15000.00). He bought the Zurich insurance. several months later the cam drive gear(fiberglass/plastic composite) broke. The result was a claim sent into Zurich for a full engine rebuild/replacement. The company paid for a complete engine(new) and all related costs, no deductable. The costs for the engine was more than $10.000.00.

The last Spyder is a 2013 ST, I bought the extended warranty without question.

Yes, I will buy the extended warranties and hope I never use it, but!

Good Luck

I had it on my 2010 and it paid out in more ways than one. Not only did it cover an expensive repair that was more than the cost of the coverage but it also was a selling point. When you go to sell a bike with high miles it really helps to be able to say that you still have 2 or 3 years left on the warranty. On my 2014 I recently used it to have the headlight assembly replaced. That part costs $320.

An update of sorts. When I bought the 2014 RT, it came with a free two year additional BEST warranty. I took that of course. The regular warranty has now run out but I have another season and a half before the BEST runs out. So far, no warranty issues and 22,000 miles of trouble free operation.

I am about 8,000 miles short of "usual" riding miles this year due to health issues, but hope to be back on track next season. About three weeks or so (first snow/black ice) and I will be hanging it up for the year.

I have not purchased yet as I just bought the bike a few months ago. I will buy the 3 year extended, have been quoted about $750 and think it would be money well spent if I ever need to use it. I personally hope I never use it. If I ever decide to sell it might be a good selling point.
