• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Event Data Recorders

Event Data Recorders have been around for quite a while and will be mandatory for all cars on 2015. There is a grief report on these on AOL's home page right this second, don't know how long things last. The Senate Committee on such things has recommende the data be priviledged except in a couple criminal areas.

""EDRs can serve a useful function by helping to make cars and streets safer, but access to the data should be treated as personal except under very specific circumstances," said Senator Hoeven in a statement on his website."

I can just see the feds taking this info and sending out tickets 6 years later or even better, sending the FBI or the idiots from the Nevada events of last week to round up your cars and motorcycles and selling them at auction. The Spyder system keeps a lot of date, so watch out for the DHS, FBI or marshals from the soon to be AARP militia, to arrive at 2 in the AM and break into your garage for the black box in your Spyder.

Guess there is really no end to the possibilities.

FYI, don't mistake the turn signal for the left lane as meaning you should necessarily stop.also, if you're in a normal lane.. Don't even ask how I know. that. I was happy the cop, way too close to my rear tire, didn't hit me as he wasn't expecting me to do that. He ended up finally stopping next to me in the turn lane and shouting something about my mother as I realized my mistake, waved and drove off. I was looking to the left for the gas station to meet other Spyders for our ride and when that light went caution, I subconsciously thought it was for me too. The police car sped off to apprehend some other violater. Guess if I mentioned to the judge that said enforcer was 6 inches from my "virtual" bumper, it might refflect on his reputation. Dumb, dumb thing for me to do. No tickets since one in 1973 - 35 in a 25 zone in rural Delaware. Excuse the bad typinf, pleawse. Keyboard is so old the letterd are missinh.

Not yet..!!

But they could get there. So far they only have vehicle information perhaps time date speed and other engine spec's but haven't a clue where this is occurring. As to the other..be careful be safe and hope you found your group and enjoyed the ryde...

WOW, a reprimand from the Geru of Posting. Holy Cow, I must be worse than I thought. To make up for it I won't ride today. Of course, it's raining, with T'storms later. I'll try to be good and make you proud. That's what I always told the instructors who called me in for stupid study in flight training 54 years ago.

Ride on! biker.jpg

The data is sometimes used in court cases if an accident results in a fatality. OTR trucks have had them for a long time and the trucking companies use them to monitor driver actions. I had the one in my 2006 Impala cleared before trading it in. Did you know that other data collecting devices have been used for several years on things?

I have a radically improved data collecting device.

She travels behind my Spyder on her RT, or sometimes beside me in the car, collecting data as we travel.

Millions of bits of data and thousands of images are stored in her storage area and she has the capability of recalling items when least expected or wanted.

Consider "On Star" system, check engine operartion, call for help to your location for trouble, tracking and rcording your travel and other information ???
Suposedly, some other "black box" can be romotely accessed.

I'm beginning to understand why you call yourself Double Trouble, 'cause with comments like that you are bound to be in it, especially if she's reading these posts!! :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:

Not everyone understands the significance of EDR. Some want it to remove to disable. But, is it necessary? Based from the articles I read, the device takes note of accident data and the habits of the driver, which can be used to make individuals safer. But third-party marketers have also used it to invade the privacy of drivers. Customers have to hear how this works. Read this here: Event data recorders: Saving lives and invading privacy.

Might want to double up on the tinfoil.... Ever wonder why the newer cell phones do not have removable batteries? iPhones, the newer Motorola Droids... not sure on the other brands, but I think it is exactly to keep you from removing the battery so "THEY" can always have access to it.
