Evap Cansiter

Good day folks,

I finally got around to removing the evap canister on my 08 GS, which I have owned since 2011. I know, late to the game on that front. But now that its gone and the Spyder is running much better now, can I finally fill the gas tank all the way? I haven't had to fill up since removal and I'd like to know ahead of time since I plan on running it to near empty to be rid of the gas that sat in it all winter. If anyone who has an earlier model like me can answer, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If there was/is any gas overflow the OEM system allowed that overflow to go into the Evap. cannister …. which contaminated it …. and prevented it from doing it's job ….UNTILL that gas evaporated ( took a long time ) ….. if you no longer have the cannister this can't occur …….Question - what did you do with the line that went into the evap. cannister ….. make sure any open lines DO NOT DRIP ON HOT parts ….. I placed a fuel filter between the line and routed it underneath the bike. So far there is no fuel smell after riding and the Spyder runs much smoother.

Congratulations! You have been Freed! At the very least that canister is a nuisance. And it's always going to be a potential fire hazard.

You can fill it all the way up now. Usually good for another 10-30+ miles depending on how you were filling before. It takes some patience to get your Spyder tank full. You know you're full when you see the little triangle at the top of the digital fuel level gauge. Most people do not even know this little triangle exists because they have never actually filled the tank. I've even had people claim that their GS/RS/RSS did not have the little triangle.

I do not recommend doing this if you have not removed your Evap-canister as it will create issues (as Blueknight911 mentioned above)
