There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Evaluations: Evoluzione Swaybar

Sometimes when I try to accelerate while coming out of a corner the Spydie kind of sputters on me. From what I've read on here, that's probably the nanny, and a swaybar may help reduce that. So, I have a couple of questions about swaybars.

First, do they really improve handling by a noticable amount? If so, why don't they come as standard equipment? :dontknow:

Second - how hard are they to install? I've done an oil change myself, replaced the exhaust (2x), installed a Juicebox pro, a rear sport rack and backrest. Is installing the swaybar much harder?

Thanks.

I have the RT shocks and springs on my GS, but not the sway bar...yet...I have not heard of anyone who does not absolutely LOVE the sway bar...esp. in conjunction with the upgraded shocks/springs...

The Spyder does come with a sway bar. The upgrade is an adjustable sway bar. Mine is set to the stiffest position and does decrease body roll. Installation involves removing the factory sway bar and bolting on the new one. This is one of the best upgrades you can do for improved handling.

I just installed mine tonight and then took about a 20 mile ride. WOW what a difference. I am very happy I did it.
Installation took some time but not that hard.
I would highly recommend it! :2thumbs:

So how long did it take you? Can you do it with your Spyder sitting on the ground or do you need to jack it up? Thanks...

Helps to jack it up for sure --- if you've done an oil change this should be really easy for you.

basically just remove the BRP sway bar and install the Evo one---- I would just go with the stiffer setting from the get go....

Helps a lot with body roll.

Oh-- can be done in 45 min......

I'm the electrical guy, not a gearhead. I jacked up the bike, supported it, gathered the wrenches and did the swap. 30min start to finish. I love what the swaybar did for me. I hope to do the shocks some day.

Also note--- this CAN be done without removing the trunk-- just remove the lower bolts holding the bottom of the trunk on-- should give you enough to move the bottom of the trunk a bit to get in to the swaybar....

:agree: Had mine done last November, made a world of difference.

:agree::agree::agree: Stiffest setting right out of the box. Wonderful!!

I went the hard way and removed the frunk. I had never done that before so I kind of wanted to see how hard it was AND i changed out the 8 grease fittings to 90 degree zerks while I had the frunk off.

I guess it took about 2 hours max with sway bar install and zerk replacement.

Not to bad and yes if you can change the oil this will be no problem for you.

I did run the bike up on ramps which makes it way easier to get underneath.

Good luck!!!

Sledhead are the zerks threaded in or a press fit?Plan on doing the same to mine.

I ordered my bar last night, now just have to find time (and dry weather!) to install it.

I'm not a small man, ahem, so even with the stock RS shocks jacked all the way up, I figure the improved swaybar will be a necessity soon enough. If it doesn't do the trick by itself, I'll swap out my 2010 RS shocks for new RT shocks.

Anyway, I'm going to ride my new Spyder around for a couple of weeks to establish a baseline performance, then install the new bar and see if I can tell the difference.

(Oh, and Firefly-- even though I'll jack the Spyder up, I know I'll be lazy and try to first install it without taking the frunk off, so any advice on that front will help).

I,m still torn between the sway bar and RT 10 shocks for my 09SE?
Do you have to compress the sway bar when installing?
Would the RT shocks be better as I can get them from shs powersports for $120 per side -OR just about the same as the sway bar.

Please answer I have to go to the Library to view sit because computer is down.:(

Maybe sway bar then shocks- I,m only 210 and ride solo!

No compressing the sway-bar----- just goes in place of the old one--- easy install.

I did the sway bar first.....really made a difference. Did the shocks about a year later. Considering the shocks are a wear item and the sway bar is not -- maybe run your current shocks for another year--- crank them up a notch or two and go with the sway bar....

Thanks! Why didn,t I think of that??
Order the sway bar with my current shock setting of 5 and zip around the backwoods hair-pin corners faster and NEXT Spring when when my current 10,000 miles will probably be 18,000 or 20,000 Order the RT shocks .
At 210 riding always single the sway bar should do what many are saying.

When at Spyderfest someone was selling his 2010 RT shocks for $120 for the pair. I should have grab them up but didn't want haul them home. He was going to place them on ebay for the same price, it might be worth it to look on ebay to see if they are available.

Cowtown was selling 2011 RT takoffs for $100 cash or $125 credit. Best deal going . Put mine and the wifes on when we got home. Fantastic difference we already had the new sway bar.
