• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Error Codes Ahoy!

So, while I have been enjoying my 2011 RSS for the past... 4 weeks. I got a check engine and two codes.

P0706 and P0709

They popped up randomly throughout my ride and went away with a restart, then on the next ride occured again. The only performance change I have noticed is it now takes me more than one try to get into reverse on occasion. I did get one "check transmission but it popped up for a whopping 6 seconds then went away never to return.

Would anyone be kind enough to tell me the error for those codes? and perhaps a little insight?

I typed in P0706 in the "search box" and the following is what I got. There were other threads as well.

Those codes are saying there may be a problem with you shift sensor. You have to visit a dealer so they can test it with BUDS. Push them to replace it - it is under warranty.

So I guess it's off to the dealer... -sigh-

Do you happen to know if they can pull "old" codes, because they go away when the bike is turned off, then return a bit into the ride.

Yes, the "occurred" codes remain and can be read in BUDS until the dealer clears them (or the register gets full). Only the currently active codes are shown manually on the display.

P0706 = Gear Change Sequence Logic (error) - Engineering DTC

P0709 = Fluctuation Detected on GBPS Signal - Expected GBPS plausibilty signal check exceeded

You likely need a new GBPS, but there are a few tests the dealer needs to perform first, to be sure.
