• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Epic GPS failure

Road-Kill

New member
Out riding and noticed my Garmin GPS was dead.
I went home and plugged it first into my PC and then into a wall charger.....still dead.
I decided to leave it plugged into the wall outlet overnight as an extra attempt to save it before I tossed it.

The next day it turned on and here is what I found.
1. I tapped into my 12v customer accessory and wired in a waterproof 12v outlet (I did this when the bike was new 9 months ago)
2. I plugged my Garmin 12v charger into it. (9 months ago)
3 I NEVER cleaned my 12v contact points in the 9 months since installation as I never removed the charger.

I learned that you must take out the GPS charger and polish the -/+ contact points from time to time.
I also learned that if I start the bike and the GPS does not automatically start it means you lost juice to the charger.

It must have ran so dry it needed an overnight charge.
Other electrical connections need the same TLC.
This would have sucked the big one on a long trip.
