• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

engine problems
http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14328

The dealer called at 3pm tuesday and said that the engine was back together and they were installing it right then. I called in the morning at 9am (service starts at 7am) to ask how it was going. I was told he was hooking some things up and would start it soon. I called at 1pm and was told the same thing. I called again at 4.30 pm and was told the SAME THING. I asked what was going on and was told things were still being hooked up. I remarked that things were being hooked up for over 8 hours and they still hadn't started it. Seems a little strange to me I said. The guy said that "YOU KNOW WE ARE FIXING THIS UNDER WARRANTY DON"T YOU"
Well I figured out what was going on real quick. I then called the general manager and talked to him. He said that they had their best guy on it and he was working on it all day. He said that the shop was slow and some techs were layed off so there was plenty of help if it was needed. Me thinks he was blowing smoke up my back pipe.
No wonder some dealerships are closing with service like this. I could of hooked the stuff up and started it in less than 8 hours. The manager had the gall to say my mods were delaying the process. My COSMETIC mods. This dealership has can am ,ski doo, yamaha, arctic cat, honda, suzuki and kawasaki. This is no small dealership. If it takes their best tech over 8 hours to hook an engine up they have a BIG problem. Brp states that you can remove and replace an engine in a little over 4 hours. Now knowing how warranty hours are low balled from the manufacturer I can understand it would take longer. But not over double that JUST to hook it back up.
Watch out for these boys. I had trouble with them when the did my 6000 mile service and thought give them another chance. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=10434

Enough is enough. Stay away from ENGELHARDT CENTER, Madison Wisc.
Any more work needed on my spyder will go to another dealer even though its even farther to go.
I'VE HAD IT WITH THEM.:gaah::gaah::gaah:

I understand your frustriation, but can't see a tech doing a motor install in an 8 hour day . Hell they bill me 2 hours to install a 1 inch riser.

The motor was in the day before. All he was doing was hooking up the hoses and cables and putting in oil and antifreeze to start it.

Maybe they're trying to make sure it's put together right.....would you rather have them just slap it together??:lecturef_smilie:

Over 8 hours SO FAR to hook the electronics( at most a dozen or so electrical plug conections), two radiator hoses, the clutch lines and about 6-8 vaccum lines. I have done car engines that were alot more involved than that. Remember they still have to start it, bleed the various systems and clear any codes that may pop up. Give me break. oops I forgot the two throttle cables Those take atleast 4 hours right there.

But did you account for coffee breaks, lunch, washroom breaks, phone calls, nose blowing, smoke breaks, tool searching, weather checks etc...

Here's the deal---- they get paid by BRP for warranty work--- so you would think they would be happy----- BUT --- BRP gets a deal and doesn't pay the same hourly rate that us customers do---- so the owner isn't making as much money when a tech is working on warranty issues---- they would rather have him work on higher paying customer-paid for projects.

On top of that - BRP will only pay for as many hours as THEY think a certain procedure will take the tech--- so if they say 8 hours-- and it takes the tech 16----- they don't get paid for the extra 8 hours.

Sorry you're getting the run-around!

I think you hit that helmet on the head!

My engine arrived on Monday, Techs start on Tues. I called on our way back into town and the tech said he would really try to get to it. We got back into town about 20-25 minutes before close and the old engine hadn't even been removed yet.:dontknow: I guess I'm on the back burner now. I was hoping to have some better luck since the weather is getting cooler and rainy; maybe they wouldn't have too many 'paying customers':bdh: in for service. No word from them at all yesterday.... maybe I'll go watch. today.

Did I miss something? You having engine trouble?

Mike

Ya, I am/was...
here's the short story
I had some troubling noise....turned out to be transmission bearing.
There were some other problems, when I gave it a test run....
Ended up having it towed back to dealer after 40 miles. Now I'm getting a new engine:gaah:

This one is going to last! !

Wow, that certainly is a surprise. Heard so many good things about Ted's and now this. I probably jinxed you by taking mine there last night. Ted's treated me so well when Liz and I came to Alton in the spring to go on the ride you put on that I thought I would give them a chance. We will see how they respond.

I'm sure Ted's will do everything they can to fix your spyder properly. There service department is very good. They called while we were on vacation to keep us updated as to where the engine was and when it was coming in.

Unfortunately, Ted's is a business and my spyder is not the only bike in the shop. They have gone out of their way several times to keep my husband and I happy. They have gone out of their way several times for alot of customers, I really do feel they do a great job, and if you have any questions - you get answers.

most of you spend more time whining about your spyders and dealers than you do riding

Hey Genius,

There is a major flaw in your reasoning, which I have quoted. Those that are voicing concerns, or "whining," as you put it, cannot ride. The point of this particular thread is that the shop has their Spyders and it is taking a painfully long time. Of course, if you'd stop licking the windows long enough to comprehend the previous posts, I'm sure you would have realized this.:dontknow:

Oh by the way, welcome.

Dont get me wrong the run around sucks but believe me most of you have no idea what it takes to work on these things.

In my experience the best guy at a dealership is never going to be the fastest and besides seems to me that most of you spend more time whining about your spyders and dealers than you do riding. So in conclusion i would stop crying, hope the work is done properly, suck it up and move on. After all YOU did make the decision to buy a spyder.

I am not so sure that you need to be that terse in chat.
If you were face to face with me, I am not so sure you would have said that to me.

Hey guys, cool it! We don't need flame wars and personal insults on this forum. If you can't express yourselves without being rude, please take it somewhere else!
