• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Engine gets louder on downshift & engine braking - why?

My 2018RTL seems to be getting louder when engine braking between downshifts. Seems to run fine, checked oil level and that’s good. Quieter when holding steady engine speed. I get a little engine knock when I first start and once in a while at idle.

Is this 'getting louder' above & beyond that coming from the 'rev matching' blips that the computer initiates whenever you change down?? :dontknow:

Spyder engines, in fact, most IC Engines do tend to 'rattle' or knock a bit when first started; altho a 'knock' at idle isn't something you'd expect. Still, any chance you could record it (on a vid?) and post it up here? In the vid, tell us when you can hear the noises so we can get some idea of what you are concerned about?! ;)

Front drive pulley splines is a good place to start looking for an answer. Likely worn and getting ready to completely fail.

I find when shifting up or down (SE6) holding the throttle absolutely still is what the bike wants for smooth, quiet shifts.

Sent you a PM RHJ1, please check it out (click on the flashing red 'Notifications' button up the top right of the screen ;) ) and also, please send the Read Receipt &/or reply so that I at least know you've seen & understand the issue?!?
