End of the Journey

Not really a thread, but Dudley isn't here to tell me how to do this thing. Internet not working; in case ya'll stopped reading about the journey. We couldn't post for the last 2 days. Although, we are done so there isn't much else to tell. Wonderful to be home, still looks the same. Weeds were minimal, neighbors still talk to us, :spyder2: is hibernating awaiting clean-up.
May give an over view of things once we have service at home. In the meantime, THANKS to each and all of you for everything. I would like some boudin and cracklins for christmas please.

It was fabulous to meet both of you along your trip of a lifetime! It is we who should thank you for stopping multiple times along the road to meet so many of us. Dudley and you are a real "Dynamic Duo" to undertake such a cross country trek. Thank you for taking us along with your blog and pictures. I'm glad you made it home safe and sound.

OK, I have to know the answer to this Jen. Two GIVI bags: his & hers (?), clean and unclean (?). I mean, how or what do you pack for a 10,000+ journey using two bags a little bigger than a bowling ball each and a trunk? I can't even go to LA for 2 nights without 3 backpacks, and one was hanging on my mirrors.

Yes, I have many times thought of your endless cups of coffee on the long days when I couldn't have any until we stopped. Then it tended to be too late or I wouldn't sleep if I gave in and drank anyway. Then it's fight the sleep on the back of :spyder2: next day, lol just can't win.

OK, I have to know the answer to this Jen. Two GIVI bags: his & hers (?), clean and unclean (?). I mean, how or what do you pack for a 10,000+ journey using two bags a little bigger than a bowling ball each and a trunk? I can't even go to LA for 2 nights without 3 backpacks, and one was hanging on my mirrors.

Uhummm:dontknow: how much does one need? We each had the jeans we were wearing plus a pair of shorts for when I did laundry. Then 3-4 tee shirts and a couple of undershirts for Dudley. 2 changes of socks a piece. Bathing suit in case; like yeah way too cold even indoor pools :yikes:. Boots we had on and flip flops. Shaving and teeth things, hair brush. Used lotions and shampoo in hotels.
Halve of givi bag (part attached to rack) had rolled leather jacket and on the side of that was the Frogg Toggs in their stuff sacks. This left the lid for 1 pillowcase which held each of our things. As to dirty, if I couldn't wash it in the hotel sink (due to cold and not enough time to dry) it either got worn (if only the 2nd day) or we rolled it tight and stuffed it into space in the bags. :roflblack: Some days we worn the same shirt at least 3 days running. You have to remember it was chilly, always had a jacket, we bathed every night, no sweating, if we smelled we would never see the same ppl again so who really cared :thumbup:.
Oh, in the front trunk was my laptop in its case, plastic Walmart bag held our headache stuff, vitamins and such, toiletries bag, quart of oil, sunscreen, glasses, flashlight, you know normal stuff. Could even fit a bottle of wine, water and the occasional bag of chips, apple or 2, sweet roll. Not saying things didnt get a bit squished, but it all worked fine. The flip flops were constantly having to be repositioned.
Think I covered it all. The camera was in a fanny pack that I always wore, as was my ID and money and jot it down note book.

Sounds nice, SIGH, don't know if/when we will ever get that way again. Sorry to miss BBQ and gatherings going on that side of the states, almost jealous.
You and Nancy were great, nice when ppl take you to their homes, very welcoming.

Hmm...I'll remember that offer. With Joys hair products and makeup, we'll be outfitting the bike with Corbins. The trunk should be coming in any time. Saddlebags maybe next year. Do you go through any type of "withdrawls" following a journey like that?

Withdrawals? Hmm:shocked:, what did you say? Don't know how Dudley feels exactly, but I'm dragging and find too much people chatter is rather overwhelming. OK just talking to a few but too much going on at once is a bit difficult to deal with. Maybe just have to get back into the groove. :spyder2:lag I guess. Lots of time changes, body in shock, lol. We shall survive. Never know when the urge may hit you to take off and just go too so best watch out.
