• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anybody have any idea how long Elkas should last on an RT mile wise before needing to be rebuilt. Thanks in advance for any input.

Check the Elka warranty. I believe they require a yearly rebuild for Elka to honor it should one fail. Had 'em on my 2011. Glad they didn't fail.

I have over 40,000 miles on mine and no leaks or problems. John looked at them during the last Spyderfest and suggested not doing anything yet. The annual rebuilding is aimed at off road tag racing, which I think has been their primary market.

This year at Spyderfest I had a pair installed. John, from Elka, said I'd get about 70,000 miles before they'd need service. He did mention the yearly service was aimed at those who go off road.

Depends..!

like anything (moving parts) its gonna depends on the variables. Roads, weather, loads, proper setup, etc. I have ryders who have had no problems and others failing under 10,000 miles. Granted there are always the few that slip by quality control. But they are the most often mentioned when talking shocks along with Race Tech.

I know 3 people locally that had them leak after a year. They did not know they needed to be serviced yearly!
They were not too happy when they tried to get them fixed and found they were out of warranty.

Bob, they had a batch of bad seals. Contact Elka, speak to John. Tom :spyder:
