How and where do these attach and did they come from Elka?

Elka Shock Protectors

Got a set of the Elka shock protectors installed on my RT today. Installation is pretty easy and they fit perfectly! A nice addition to protect your investment!

where they mount like the OEM shocks upside down with the exposed shaft up under the spyder ....

sorry Matt for the OT comment ...

but they do look like a nice addition...better then shock boots that cover the shocks. I wonder do they rattle at the top of the protector when hitting bumps as the support is all in the base of the shock protector?

I just purchased a pair of these. :2thumbs:Installation instructions did not come with. I can't figure how to install them. Do I need to uninstall the shocks?:dontknow: Or just unload them to make some mounting room at the bottom?

Hello Bootie,

1)To do it without removing the shocks will require you to lift the front of the bike up so that the weight is off of the shocks.

2)Back the preload all the way off( the red ring on top of the spring) so that the springs are loose. Remember to measure or to mark where they are before backing off the preload to make it easier to reset.

3) Once the springs are loose, simly pull out the spring clip ( you will see the groove in the clip where the shaft will slip through) and slide in the new clip with the protector.

4) reset the spring and preload back to its original position

5) Set the front end back down

6) get on the Spyder and ride. :clap:

Elka Suspension is unveiling to you their new SHOCK PROTECTORS:

New?? Elka shock protectors were available when I bought my Elka's three years' ago. I went 'round and 'round with Elka and Pitbull and they didn't think they were at all necessary. I was told the protectors were really for the dirt bike applications where they get dirt and stones thrown at them all day long. Is Elka now changing their tune? Has anyone had a seal failure due to strut damage from debris?

The protectors came on my 2011 RT. They looked good, if nothing else.
