• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

eliminating the gas gauge

If I eliminate the analog gas gauge on my RT-S will the digital gauge work? The owners manual says that there is no digital when the analog is installed.
Thanks

And then the temp and gas gauge will appear on your screen, but remember that you must uplug both the temp and the gas analog guages.

Thank You!! I have only had the Spyder for a couple of weeks. Like a lot of others here I came from the Goldwing camp. I saw finless Bobs video on mounting a GPS using the hole where the analog fuel gauge is normally and that to me looked like the best idea yet for mounting it. Only difference is that I would likely use a refurbished Zumo 660. They can be had for around $300.00.

What they said. I just disconnected the wiring from the gauges and taped off the ends. Stuffed them down the holes, and left the other gauges in--but unoperable. You can get plugs to put in if you actually remove the gauges or you can replace with other gauges. Prior to 2014, the gas gauge was nothing more than a ballpark for gas in the tank. The needle on some gyrated back and forth with any movement of the :ani29:. Worthless IMO. I did the disconnect on both my 2010, and on the current 2011. The 2014 has a rock solid gas gauge so I still use it.

I also recently removed the analog guages, replacing the fuel with a digital volt meter and the other with a dual USB outlet.

i can tell you without any doubt whatsoever that the digital fuel guage is much more representative of the remaining volume in the tank. Before when the guage got very low or at empty I never got more than four gallons into the bike. Now when there is part of the last block left I fill up and always administer over four gallons of go juice. NOTE: I stated that there is still room on the guage, whereas before we read empty.

The addition of the voltmeter has been great as well, I feel as though I have more information on Joshua's health and wellness, :roflblack:
alao it seems to make better use of the screen and the dash components. Git'er done!

Do you have a link to the video you referred to? Sounds interesting.

For the 998 bikes: :agree: But for the newer 1330s: the gauges are now as accurate as any fuel gauge on the Planet... nojoke
When the "Low Fuel" light pops on: I know that the bike will take 5.5 gallons...

All of the above...

And now they have a wide selection of replacements for you. Fairly simple but cover the work area around the bars, screws can easily fall down there never to be found...:yikes:

Great Vid

Thanks for sharing your knowledge on how to make this work ... now I have my first winter project on the list! :coffee:
