• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Electrical help

Installed eastern beaver 3GS, very straight forward install, tapped into left passenger grip warmer for switched power. After checking everything hooked up my new voltmeter gauge to this 3GS as sender, no juice. Checked everything and realized there is no power to the gray/green wire at the passenger hand grip. Checked the two other leads on the passenger grip , nothing. Checked the other side grip heater, no power. Checked all the fuses main and trunk, all good. Two questions:

Why no power, I have never used the grip heaters, so I have no idea if they ever worked, how can I troubleshoot?

Alternate site to tap into for switched power to the 3GS?:dontknow:

Did you check the voltage while the engine was running? Maybe the engine needs to be running to charge the battery while the heated grips are on. Otherwise I would think they would drain the battery very quickly.

You want to use the lighting wire to the grip heater switch for your relay power. This is the light green/gray wire running to the switch. This wire is only hot when the engine is running. It will not be hot with just they key turned on, because it is fed through the load-shedding relay.

I had a similar situation when I needed electrical power for a relay when the ingition switch was on but the red thumb switch that stops the engine would be pressed the the stop engine position. I tapped into the RH marker (parking) iight's current. It's hot when ever the ignition switch is in the ON postion irregardless if the engine is running or not.

Thanks all,
I decided that I would prefer to be switched when the key is turned on, so I ran the wire for the 3CS up behind the left headlight and used the small light that turns on when the key is turned on. Everything now works fine. Volt gauge done, now to work on getting the compass/clock/temp gauge installed. For this I need to find an unswitched source for the clock lead. Suggestions? Something up near front right would be best.
