• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Eco mode or not?

Does most use eco mode or not? Or is there a time to use it like on long trips. New owner here, thanks in advance.,

I never use it
I like to ride and not worry about the fuel mileage
I tried it
Did not notice any fuel savings
It just did not give me full throttle

You are going to get mixed reviews. I do not use it. Found it to distracting to keep looking for the green shift arrow. I know the sound when mine hits the magic (for me, 3000 rpms). Eco also slows down your performance a bit.

I also faithfully used it for a whole tank of gas. I saved about 1 mpg on gas. Not a big enough savings for the hassle.

When ever this subject come up I always say: I would rather they had the electronic frunk release instead of eco-mode. There--that felt good. :roflblack:

:2thumbs: I just ryde and don't use the eco mode......found it to be too boring...so just ryde and the motor tells me when to switch gears......so enjoy.....:f_spider:

I use it. With my riding style I didn't notice much difference, so why not use it. Also, the 41.7 mpg last tank is nice.

I put it in ECO mode when I picked up the bike and it's stayed there. I am just a rider, not a "performance' rider. I get on the highway, shift up to 6th, put the cruise on and cruise.

I don't look for the arrow, I listen for the engine 3000 rpm sound and shift.

I use it. I feel no difference if I turn it off so what the heck, I might as well use it. It mostly just serves to remind me to upshift when I'm riding at low speeds. I shift when I feel like it but it reminds me that I could be in a higher gear.

Dudley, you need to change your signature for your new ride.

ECO MODE

I'm using Eco mode for the first 600 miles to remind me to take it easy during break-in.
Will turn it off after that I think unless I see a huge drop in as mileage.

I usually keep it in ECO mode, but don't pay too much attention to it. I don't look for the green upshift arrow, but if I do see it, it reminds me that I CAN upshift if I want to.

Dumbs down my road mobile

Tried it first week on new F3 for about thirty miles and it appeared to dumb down the ride. The mileage currently achieved is sufficient and is considerably better than the 998. Funny story I've since tried to turn it on and it won't respond, I'll have it checked in the fall upon return home.

I tried it, and found that looking for the upshift arrow was diverting my attention from where it needed to be: on the road in front of me! :yikes:
I only saw a minimal increase in the fuel economy of the bike when using it...

Tried it, didn't like it

I think it's a good thing for people who need to be told when they're supposed to shift. I was curious and tried it for a short while just to see if I would like it, but found it to be a drag on my riding style. I get 35 MPG with my aggressive style, and that's fine with me. From what others have said, the minor gain of MPG is not worth the price you pay in terms of loss of performance.
