• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

EBT Fail

Scotty, you are making me nervous... Is my odometer going to read zero?
Yes, I'm afraid so.

I had the speedometer replaced on my previous ride, an HD Ultra Classic. The service department took down the mileage and ordered the replacement. When they received it the mileage was already entered. It had to be set at the factory and not the dealership. Wonder if the Spyder is done the same way.
At present, BRP has no such program.

New cluster

Scotty,

Called the dealer a short while ago and they told me they would send a cluster with the correct mileage on it. They have had cases in the past where mileage had to be added, but that is no longer the case.

I'll report back to confirm this when I get the bike back.

I just had my cluster replaced under warr. And the mileage reads 0 the dealer said that there was nothing he could do. Mine is a 2011 RTS SE5. They also changed the parking break spring.

Mine was replaced last week, and the new one will need to be replaced, too. Lost 7,700 miles in the transaction, and will lose a few more. My contacts with BRP say there is no such capability as yet. :dontknow:

Odometer

That's good to know. I'll pass that on.

BTW, anyone want to buy a "new" Spyder??:roflblack:

Seriously, How do you know if the mileage is real when purchasing one on CL? Do you run the VIN through carfax report like a used car?

I can just see the unscrupulous sellers trying to make a buck.

The law says they have to provide certification. The original title will also have the mileage. You would receive a title marked "Not Actual Mileage" or "Actual Mileage Unknown". Around here that reduces the resale value by about half. :(

cluster issues

I had mine replaced on my '08 gs, in '09. It's interesting that there are still cluster issues. Maybe time for BRP to do a root/cause analysis to determine whether it is a manufacturing problem, software,??:dontknow:

All the pretty lights...

Here is the update as promised,

12,000 mi. service was done with new tire (Kenda) and brakes (gen 3). $1600 and thank you very much!

Cluster covered under warranty arrived, but was not installed because the wiring is different. Anyone know about a wiring difference, or a modification to this harness?

And, is the Kenda tire stock?

Cluster change

Just an update to close out this thread,

12,000 mi. maintenance + Gen #3 brake pads + rear tire = $1600 and some change. The 10 hrs of labor at $96/hr killed me.

After receiving bike with a total of .1 miles on odometer (how strange!), I had VSS, DPS messages and limp mode (x2), 45 minutes into the trip home. Dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. Ride into work today was uneventful.

Thanks to all for the good advice.

Cheers!

Odometer reading

Just following up on old business:

You're right Scotty, the new cluster came w/ 000000.
