EBC Brake Pads

Has anyone replaced RS brake pads with EBC Brake Pads, I have a set on hand for replacement when needed, I have not had to replace pads on 2008 RS sm5 yet over 5000 mi on spyder, Just read a post on here that said he only got 3500 mi. out of a set of EBC organic pads, Has anyone had such a problem also just doesn't sound right, I have used EBC pads on other bikes with no problems....freebob...:doorag:

I asked you a few weeks back when you posted you had EBC pads what were you going to do for the caliper screws and clips when you installed the EBC pads; those parts (screws and clips) don't show as separate items to order in the parts breakdown. Did you plan on using the existing screws and clips? I ask because the service manual says not to re-use the caliper screws and clips.

I don't beleive that is really a problem, I have had no problems reusing screws and clips. I have done many brake jobs and never had a problem.
If do I will deal with it when I replace pads, New pads aren't needed now I still have plenty of pad left at 5000 mi. Just have new pads on hand for when time comes to replace..tks....freebob :doorag:

I just got back from Des Moines, taking Seth a new set of break pads. (I'll post later on the other thread with a couple pics) Do yourself a favor, and pitch the EBC Break Pads. If you would of seen how Seth's rotor was chewed up from the caliper rubbing, :yikes: you'd stick with the BRP pads or something equivalent.

Thanks. When the time comes, I'll be sticking to the BRP pads. I realize the BRP pads are more expensive at $111 for the fronts (all 4) and $50 for the rear; the price quoted from my dealer.

That can get expensive!!!! Definitely better to stick with the stock brake pads...I don't know why people were switching anyway??...because they squeak a little? Better to squeak than to replace your rotors...:yikes:

One set of brake pads wear prematurely and all of a sudden there all crap.How does everyone know it wasn't caused from a bad calliper sticking,Seth does ride all year in all types of weather.Salt and sand can do do a number on metal as we all know.

Yes I agree, Have not heard of anyone else having problems with EBC Brake pads, I have used them for years and never had problems.

Ok..... So we all know Seth rydes hard ..... But freaking 3500 miles??????!!!!

That is unreal!

I have a set of EBC here and I'm not going to put them on...... I also ryde hard and can't afford to take a chance on sub-standard break pads!

EBC is well known for quality products..... So this really is a big letdown
