• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Early RT production numbers

I have read a few posts on this forum where the poster's were able to determine what number their :spyder2: were made example #455 or #620 off the line etc. How can I find out what my production number is? My :spyder2: is a 2010 RT A&C SM5.

.

When the first GS models (2008) came out--they had premier editions. There were supposed to be about 1500 if memory serves correct. There was a plaque on the handlebars showing the number. They actually made about 2500 of these.

When the first RT's came out--they had a special premier edition RT-S. I have one of these: #474. They had special stitching on the seat.

Not sure how the numbering system works on the non-premier editions--but am guessing it may have something to do with the last digits on the VIN. Someone knows for sure.

Only the marked PE Spyders can have the last digits of the VIN# used to determine their production sequence. Every model designation, which means every trim version and color, has a numerical sequence for the last VIN digits that starts at #1, so you can only tell where in that particular model run yours occurred. For instance yours may be the fifteenth red North American RTS for 2011, but who knows where in the entire production that actually occurred? The numbered PE's were the first models produced for the GS and the RT, so they are the only ones that can be accurately pinned down. Even then, there were pre-production and prtotype vhehicle that beat them off the line if you want to get real technical.

I had a feeling you would have the answer.

Ok great that at least gives me an idea of my production number. My VIN label says my RT was built in February 2010 and the last four digits in my VIN is 0099. So at least I have a good idea that mine was fairly early in my particular model. Thanks big time! I knew someone would be able to educate me in the finer details of the Spyder history.

I think the number was over 3500 because I have 3494.

My 2010 Premier Edition RT-S had a PE # 0004. When I replaced the seat with a Corbin Saddle, I cut out that portion of the OEM seat with the PE# 0004 on it. Still have it as a momento.

something else you might not know

I knew it was more than--hence the "weasel word" "about". Forgot it was that high though. Thank you for the update on the 2008 PE editions. :2thumbs:

The 2008 GS PE Spyders are worth more in resale value than the RT PE editions, at least that's what I remember reading on this forum. I'm trying to remember who said it.......... :coffee:
