Just curious, and it sounds like a great ride... But how is it that you are from IL and starting the ride in CO and ending in MT? :dontknow:

Wow, I did almost the same trip last July, from Utah to Whitefish. It was outstanding. Make sure to go through Glacier National Park and do the ride to the sun. Most of the way it was hotter than I anticipated but the scenery is great.

Illinois to Colorado

I will ship the bike with a carrier that specializes in motorcycles. I hope to have better luck than the last time I did this (1981) when I shipped from Kingman, AZ to Philadelphia. They crushed the bike by dropping a large machine on it - ouch. Works out that shipping costs about the same as airfare, and I have enough frequent flyer miles to fly free.

I wouldn't mind riding from IL, but I only have a couple weeks, and shipping will save about 5 days.

Flying to meet up with the Spyder tomorrow

Bike was sent to Durango, and we are flying from Illinois tomorrow (Friday) to meet up with it. Final Agenda: July 12-14/Durango CO > 14-17/Telluride CO > 17-19/Moab UT > 19-21/Salt Lake ; 21-24/Ketchum ID(next to Sun Valley) 21-24 ; 24-25/Missoula MT ; 25-28/Whitefish MT(Next to Glacier NP). Look for a 2012 RT/Brown, with Illinois plates. Drop a note if you are in the area. We will post pics here on the way.

Ketchum/ Sun Valley

I live just north of Boise and 2.5 hrs from Ketchum and would like to meet up with you folks while your in the area if you so desire. I'll keep an eye on you travels if you are posting it frequently on SL. Ketchum is a very nice little community and fairly cool in the summer months ...I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay. BTW a previous post mentioned Glacier NP.....yes it's must see while in the area. Also while in UT do not miss Zion and Bryce NP. Zion has some unbelievable twisties not to mention the awesome scenery. Have a very safe and enjoyable trip.
