Dumb question, maybe

I have a 2014 Spyder RTL and I love it. Currently, I do volunteer work at the Menlo Park VA hospital. It is 11 miles from my house. One day last, the ride home was 43 miles . Now my question; what is the difference between the stock seat and the comfort seat? I am 6'4" tall with a bad knee. will the comfort seat offer any real benefit?

I do not know if the comfort seat will add anything to your ride if you are only doing short rides. But I think it may help on longer rides as you sit back a little farther then the stock seat, your passenger seat looses a little room. Don't quote me on this, but I believe that to be the case.

In addition to 2" or 2 1/2" further back, It's my understanding that it is also a firmer foam. Which really attracts me to the idea of one also.

I'm about your size and find the comfort seat supremely comfortable on any length ride to date, up to a bit over 300. Real proof of the pudding will be to/from Spyderfest but I have no indications how things may change.

I have the comfort seat on our RS. We like it a lot, I can move around a bit more and the passenger seat is much better even though shorter. I am 6'1" . But there are many seats out there and you really need to check them out as well. Whats good for me may not suit you. Wish they had a saddle store...:roflblack:

Highway pegs are a lot less expensive ..................and if you don't like the COMFORT seat......you spent a bunch to find that out ......see if you can find someone near you who has one on their RT...............................IMHO......Mike :thumbup:

I am 5'11" and have long legs, I love the Comfort Seat and I'm sure you will also feel a benefit. It is amazing how much further places are when you are traveling on a Spyder.

I think the comfort seat makes a huge difference in leg comfort. I did a demo with and without one on a 2014 RT. Much more comfortable to me. I put one on my 2010 after that. most of the added space seems to come fro a smaller "hum" between the rider and the passenger, althou the passenger loses a inch or so

I agree with gene on post #7. what's good for one may not be best for another. we have the ultimate seat on the rss and loved it. I will note, it takes a good four to five hundred miles to break the new seat in as well. be aware of that!!:thumbup:

I have a corbin seat I find it very comfortable and it is heated. Corbin will has the LAMONSTER CUT witch scoops out more foam to let you sit in the saddle and not so much on top of the seat.
Corbin can also cut the seat to fit your dimensions. The found the BRP comfort seat not comfortable for me.

I have the Ultimate tall-boy and I'm only 5'10", but I have a stiffness issue that makes me need to sit a little farther back than the stock seat allows. Find a nearby Spyder Ryde and ask to sit on as many seat brands as you can find. The Russell Day Longs are pricey but people swear by them and they are custom fitted to your body size and how you sit. This is an expensive investment, and I think only Ultimate lets you try before you buy. Also search in the WTB and sell section, you may find a seat at a bargain price.

Nothing affects your ride more than comfort, so Yes, 1.5" or so can make a huge difference in your comfort.
