• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Dumb move by me

Ryding on nice mountain roads (Frazier Canyon) Sunday. Two spyders and lots of sunshine. At the top we stopped and took some photos then headed down as it looked like the weather would change. About 17 miles from Ojai I noticed a orange light blink in the screen of my RT-s. It was the outline of the Spyder then it disappeared. Called Febail on the scala and said keep me in sight in you RR mirror as I might have a problem. He said should we stop and check it out. My response " no, keep going" if it quits I want to be as far down hill as possible. Blinking orange light continued but Spyder continued to run well. Just outside of town we pulled off and stopped. Then the whole screen went orange with the notice "cargo door open". I looked back to see my left saddle bad door wide open. Everything including rain gear was gone. Turned around and headed back to the top hoping no-one else picked it up. After back tracking 20 miles gave up the search and went back to town.
Door never opened while ryding before so did not know what the warning light was about. Should have stopped when it happened. Now much wiser and a little poorer as that left bag's contents cost $110 to replace. :banghead:

Unfortunate..!!

Sorry to hear about your loss. On the other hand glad the orange lighting was not a serious problem. Always wise to stop when possible and see if it is something easy to fix. Hope it was towards the end of your outing..:gaah:

Wow that stinks maybe should have stoped to check out the Spyde warning the he threw out your gear next time youll listen to him when he has a problematic door.

:gaah:Sorry to hear this. IF it was good rain gear I hope you can get the same kind again...IF it wasn't the best, now's your chance to get a new set of rain gear! Gotta look on the bright side in these instances.

Just Tell Them It's an Air Dam

This happened to me once ... my right-side hard case ... the consequence of not making sure I hear the little *click* as I press my side cases shut. Fortunately didn't lose anything.

The post title alludes to the joke as it occurred to those behind me who saw it happen.

 I had a saddlebag pop open once... I THOUGHT that my warning light was working; but the dealer undid it during the re-build of my bike! :gaah:
It didn't cost me anything that couldn't be replaced; so I figured it as just one of life's lessons...

Tell everybody that it's your landing gear deploying!

I had this happen on my left side. I stopped right away so I did not loose anything. I always double check that they are closed now.

I generally don't have much in the saddlebags but when I do longer trips I do, when we went to Skyline Drive I had some bulky stuff and the saddlebags were full. I was paranoid so I locked them to be safe.

Sorry you lost your stuff :( But, on the bright side, there wasn't anything wrong with your spyder!!

I have had it happen, but did not have anything in the bag. When I close my side bags, or the trunk, I get it close and then give it a good firm bump with my palm while listening for the click. If I don't here the click, I repeat the process.

I only use my side bags as a last resort, after everything else is full. The latches on my 2010 RT suck.

I've had it happen too, but on several of the 2011 RT AC models it would give no warning at all until you corrected a jumper under the console. Lost some good leather gauntlets. Now, I close it, and lean against the lids with the side of my leg, and give a pull on it to make sure they are closed.

You may call it Dumb but smart on your part by posting. All of us will benefit by learning from you. Thanks:bowdown::bowdown:

Same 4 me

I have noticed the same latching fake out and learned before I got out the drive way that you need to give those doors a pull check, sorry for the lost gear :(

I was riding with others last year and the bike behind me kept blinking his lights. We stopped and were told that my side case was open. I didn't lose anything but did at no the get any warning light!

so sorry to hear that :( but I think your lost has now made it a gain to everyone that reads this post!! I'm sure myself n hubby would of done the same thing:( one note if you make it a habit to lock your top trunk everything else will lock! No lost? Yeah it's just another step you have to make to open up any of the compartments! But like you said it's not cheap to stock our bikes ! With the things that make for a safe ride and a dry ride.

Stuff happens! Some of us admit it and some don't. We have 2 RTs. I can't remember why my husband didn't notice that his gps wasn't on its mount. We rode our SPYDER's from Virgina Beach to Richmond, I-64 the whole distance. When we got to our destination, I noticed something lying between the passenger handle and seat on his bike. It was his BRP Garmin GPS still in it's case. I have no idea how it kept on the bike almost 200 miles! I'll never let him live it down, but glad we didn't have to replace it (plus we probably would have torn the house and yard apart looking for it).
